A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Kisses & Hugs

Welcome to our JANUARY 2022 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Each month we share alternate projects using Stampin' Up!'s Paper Pumpkin Kit! We usually hop on the last Thursday of the month, though some of January's kits shipped late, so we've waited an extra week to allow time for more of us to receive our kits.

  My alternate project this month is a little heart luminary. I didn't add too much to the kit, just the Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad and a Blending Brush. I also used some Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the vellum hearts, but you could use the little Mini Glue Dots that are included in the kit.

Our Paper Pumpkin kit for January was called Kisses & Hugs. It came with supplies to create 10 fold out cards that fit in a standard size envelope, 5 each of 2 different patterns. Above is a picture of how the cards would look if you make them according to the kit directions - the cards are pictured both folded up, and also folded out. Below is a video from my Facebook Page walking through the unboxing and assembly of the kit. {if you are reading this blog post in your email, you will want to click on the title of the post to view it in your browser, so you can watch the video.}

Below is a side view of my luminary. You can see a little bit into the inside, where I used a Blender Brush, and the Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad, to add some pink color to give it a softer look than it would have had with the stark white. I stamped the words "love you" and "friend" onto the front with the Gray Granite Ink Pad, which is the same color as the ink spot that was included in the kit. I also stamped a few hearts on the front using a Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad. The kit also included some iridescent adhesive-backed sequins that I meant to use to bling up the front a bit...but I was up late and I forgot!

Below is a view of the back of my luminary. I cut out the heart shapes with a hobby blade (x-acto knife) after tracing the shapes from the negative of a die cut included in the kit. The kit also included some Vellum Cardstock die cut hearts, which I colored using the Blending Brushes and Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad. Then I adhered the vellum hearts on the inside of the luminary using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I would, of course, suggest using a battery powered votive in this luminary. My idea was that the XOXO heart would be facing the front, and the rose colored vellum windows could cast heart shaped shadows out the back.
