We Create Blog Hop - Pattern Play

Welcome to the JULY 2021 "Pattern Play" Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month the focus of our projects will be anything to do with patterned paper - since we are have a Designer Series Paper (DSP) SALE this month! I chose to feature the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper, along with the Color & Contour Stamp Set.

In Stampin' Up!'s private demonstrator Facebook group, the company shared a fun way to use 6 sheets of 6"x6" Designer Series Paper to get 14 different cards! It's called the Pick 6 Wonder (similar to what you may have heard called a One Sheet Wonder), and today I am going to share this quick and easy template with you. To prep your Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper, you'll take one each of the 6 double-sided 12x12 sheets, and cut out a 6" square out of each sheet. Then you'll use the Pick 6 Wonder instructions to make 14 standard-sized cards from 6 sheets of 6"x6" DSP. If you cut the whole package into 6" squares, you could make 56 total cards using these designs!

I have shared the PDF instructions for these cards below, which includes the cutting patterns, a list of supplies you may want to have handy, and a sample picture of the 14 card layouts (using the You're a Peach 12x12 Designer Series Paper). Where the instructions mention to cut out some hearts from the DSP, you can use whatever shapes you want. I'm also going to hand-trim the pieces I use for the sentiments from Basic White Cardstock. If you'd like to use punches or dies, feel free, but I am going to keep the supplies to a minimum for this post. I'm hoping I to do a quick video for you on a FB Live, showing you how to put all these cards together, but I'm just not sure yet when I might be able to do that so I won't make any promises right now.

This pattern works great with ANY Designer Series Paper, and you can pick the coordinating cardstock colors directly from the coordinating colors listed online next to each Designer Series Paper in My Online Store. Or, you could just choose one neutral card base color, such as Crumb Cake Cardstock. Just be aware that only *select* patterns of Designer Series Paper are on SALE this month. We Create Blog Hop - Cut it Out!

Welcome to the MARCH 2021 "Cut it Out" Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month the focus of our projects will be cutting. It can be cutting with dies, using punches, fussy cutting (by hand), or just a special way of cutting.

I thought some health issues might have been getting better for me, but they took a dive and have been kind of low for the past month. So, my project is going to be an easy "throwback" project of mine from a several years back, updated with current product. It's a stationery holder that will hold 4 cards and envelopes, that's made from cutting a 12"x12" sheet of Designer Series Paper, down to 8"x12", then scoring and folding it.

Though you can use the scoring blade on the Paper Trimmer for this project, I personally prefer to use the Bone Folder to make the score lines. To do this you simply open the cutting guide of the Paper Trimmer, so it's out of the way, then you use the trimmer for your measurements but you slide the pointy end of the Bone Folder down the cutting groove. I've found that the Bone Folder is much gentler on our Designer Series Paper, so you are less likely to press too hard and accidentally tear the paper.

Just to make things easier on myself, I used the Snail Mail Designer Series Paper that I used previously to create the 4 valentine cards in THIS POST. These cards are pictured below, and they have a decent amount of layering with some die cuts, some images cut by hand, and also some embellishments, and you can see they still fit nicely into the stationery holder. One Sheet Wonder (8-1/2"x11") with Artistic Etchings

Sorry I've been MIA for so long--the pnuemonia really kicked my behind for the entire month of June and half of July, then there was the AWESOME Stampin' Up! Convention I attended...and I drove to that. It was a beautiful drive, but going through Vail at 9,000+ feet kind of made my chest hurt. Convention was action-packed, and if that wasn't enough to recover from, I got stuck on the top of the mountains for over an hour while driving back through Vail. I guess my lungs were already kind of fragile, then I wore myself out running around all over at Convention (I even had to pass on a couple of events), and then sitting there at 9,000+ feet for over an hour while coming home, just really poured salt in the wound. I was kind of out of it for about a week after Convention. I'm still feeling a little low-energy, but I'm SO wanting to get things done, I'm just trying to push through!

Today I'll share with you something that I put together for one of the private activities I taught at after Convention. I shared this concept with you before in THIS POST, but the cards shown above are made with a new stamp set called Artistic Etchings. All of the instructions you'll need, in order to recreate these cards, are included in the two downloads below. (The pictures don't really do them justice--they are gorgeous!)

One Sheet Wonderific

I am SO sorry to have neglected you this week...I had a class last Thursday night, and we made 10 cards from a One Sheet Wonder. We had so much fun that I thought I'd write all the instructions up formally, and share them with you :-)

A One Sheet Wonder is a sheet of patterned paper, or stamped card stock, which you cut into pieces you use to create cards. This One Sheet Wonder is designed for 8-1/2"x11" paper, and I used Designer Series Paper for my patterns. However, you can take an 8-1/2"x11" sheet of white card stock and decorate it all over, to make your own patterned paper, in your own choice of colors and images!

Below, you'll see close-ups of each of the cards I made. [Remember: you can click on any picture to see it at actual size] For my One Sheet Wonder, I used one sheet of Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper** (DSP), which is double-sided. By doing that, I doubled the design possibilities, since I could use either the flowered side, or the striped side, of the paper. With those two choices, I was able to make some of the cards flowery and feminine, and others very masculine.

I restricted myself to the following colors, which coordinate with the DSP: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Groovy Guava, Whisper White, and Chocolate Chip. I also restricted my use of stamp sets to the Live Your Dream stamp set**, and the Sincere Salutations stamp set. I used a number of punches to make embellishments, as well as some silver brads (which you can get in the Vintage pack, or in the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware** pack), and I used some flowers and rhinestone brads from the Pretties Kit. You can choose how much you'd like to "bling" your cards based on your time constraints.

It's all very moving...

...or about to BE moved, anyway. My stamping area has taken up tables along the sides of 3 walls in our Master Bedroom for quite some time now. The photo above is a picture of one corner. All my stamp stuff used to be in the basement, but between my son and Blake's two boys, we needed the space for beds. Well, now that Blake's boys have created enough disturbance that they aren't coming over anymore, we've moved the beds back out. Our office will be going back downstairs, just in time for me to stay cool while I'm stamping this summer--yippee!!! Right now, most of my stamp stuff is still upstairs, but all my letter sized card stock is already downstairs. Yes, I can definitely use the exercise, but going up and down two sets of stairs each time I want different colored paper is not fun. How spoiled am I?

Anyway, I haven't been creating a whole lot of new stuff lately, due to the disarray. But I did find a bunch of pictures of scrapbook pages I made from a Simply Scrappin' Kit last year. The kit was called Just Delightful, and it had a coordinating stamp set called Delight in Life. In honor of May being National Scrapbooking Month, I'll get those posted here. Even though the kit and stamp set are no longer available, hopefully this will give you some inspiration. The templates I used to create these pages are available HERE.
