A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - May Good Things Grow

This month is our 12th #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Our kit this month is called May Good Things Grow. It came with supplies to make 8 cards, 4 each of 2 designs, with some fancy top-flap string closure coordinating floral envelopes. The picture below shows how the cards would look if you made them according to the kit instructions:

As usual, I tried to stick closely to the Paper Pumpkin kit supplies, though I chose to add some Crumb Cake Card Stock, Powder Pink Card Stock, and a wee bit of the Myths & Magic Washi Tape  and some 2" x 8" Cello Bags for some of the items inside the box (though you might have different contents in mind, so you may not need those). Everything else, including the adhesives, came from the kit! I made a box for a birthday gift, as well as a Mother's Day card.

Oh, and just a note on the plastic test tube I used for the bath salts inside the package...those actually came from a Paper Pumpkin kit from a long time ago. But right now, you can actually still get SIXTEEN of them in either the Paper Pumpkin September 2016 Good to Eat FULL KIT or the REFILL KIT (includes consumables only), if you are registered as a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber.

I'm really not the "vintage" stamping type, but this kit made it SUPER easy! For my card, I assembled one of the string closure envelopes according to the kit directions, but I made my own card base to fit inside. And my card has a little treat in it--a packet of my favorite Tulsi Sweet Rose Tea!

The May Good Things Grow Refill Kit can now be purchased the on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store. There are sometimes full Kits available on that page, but many are just Refill Kits which include the consumables only...meaning everything but the stamp set & ink pad. By the way, you're gonna have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to buy whatever's available on that PAST KITS page, so go ahead and sign up HERE to get your email address in the system first!

Stampin' Supplies: May Good Things Grow Paper Pumpkin Kit, Crumb Cake card stock, Powder Pink card stock, Myths & Magic Washi Tape, 2" x 8" Cello Bags (for some of the packaging inside the box), Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (for trimming and scoring).

Definitely for Dudes: Father's Day Toolbox

Today I have a 3-D Toolbox for you, in my Definitely for Dudes series. It opens like the picture below for display, and it will close up with all the tools inside. Again, some of the supplies are sold out now, and others are on the Retiring List, and they will be sold ONLY thru May 31st (while supplies last)!!! Head over to my Online Store and grab what you can!

This project is based on a template I created a LONG time ago. It just happened to fit everything perfectly...it was meant to be! This project probably deserves a video, but I know I won't be able to get to it for a few days, at least, so I'm going to put the link to the old post with the template, and give you several pictures from different angles, in case you want to give it a go before then. My template for the mailbox/chest can be found HERE.

The view above shows the handle, which is made with the Classic Label Punch, which was scored in a few places, stamped with the little screw top image on each end, and adhered.

The view above shows the tools lying in the toolbox as you open up the top.

The view above shows the strip of Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive used to keep the box closed, or to keep it open in display position. You simply lay down a line and let it dry, and it is sticky enough to hold the lid closed, but not sticky enough to leave residue or tear the card stock.

The view above shows the back of the hexagon. You can see there is kind of a loop of card stock, inside which the tools are tucked. The tools are just in there by gravity and tension, they float freely so you can arrange them in line to close the box, or pull them out and separate them out for display. The lid, when the box is open for display, sticks to that tab you see above the hexagon--that's what holds the lid in place for display.

This card features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut some of the pieces are sold out. But, they aren't that difficult to just trim around, and you can still grab the clear-mount version of the stamp set ON SALE...but it is LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get it before it's too late. Unfortunately, the little silver screw heads I used from the Urban District Embellishments on the project are already sold out.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Real Red card stock, Basic Gray card stock, Crumb Cake card stock, Silver Foil Sheets, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Classic Label Punch (handle on top), Watercolor Pencils (used with Blender Pens).

What Father's Day gifts do you have in your toolbox??

October Step It Up Blog Hop - Spooky Little Treats

Welcome to the October 2016 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. This month I created a basic design with the Spooky Fun stamp set to hold Halloween treats, trying to keep it simple. Check out my basic design below, along with a side view. There are 2 snack size Heath bars in the wrap on the left, and 2 Hershey Nuggets in the little wrap on the right.

Stampin' Supplies: Spooky Fun stamp set, Pumpkin Pie Card Stock, Basic Gray Card Stock, Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (stamped off once for the lighter images), Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine, 1/8" Circle/Hole Punch, Decorative Label Punch.

My stepped up version is a little treat box that can hold either 1 snack size Hershey or Heath bar, OR 3 Hershey Nuggets. This design features Designer Series Paper, because there is a Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Designer Series Paper Sale going on during the month of October for select packages in My Online Store! Designer Series Paper adds a quick burst of color without much work on your part...it takes pretty much any project from Cute, to Super Cute, in a flash ;-)

You might notice that on my stepped up project I used Peekaboo Peach card stock instead of Pumpkin Pie. I thought the Peekaboo Peach coordinated well with the piece of Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper that I used around the box, and gave it a brighter look. The little tag on the candy bar is just the Decorative Label Punch, punched out of an already punched piece to make it shorter. I'll do a video to show this project some time after my October 1st World Card Making Day Event :-D

Stampin' Supplies: Spooky Fun stamp set, Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper, Peekaboo Peach Card Stock, Basic Gray Card Stock, Pumpkin Pie ink pad (for the moon), Basic Gray Archival Pad (for the witch), Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (stamped off once for the lighter images), Decorative Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones (colored with black Sharpie), 3/4" Circle Punch (for the thumb cutout on the box lid).

By the way, the Spooky Fun stamp set also comes in a BUNDLE, with some amazingly darling Halloween Scenes Edgelits, with dies to cut out the witch, gravestones, pumpkins, and the big bat...and Edgelits, to cut out a fence, and a gnarly, spooky tree!

Click the pointing hand image below to hop to Libby's blog next, and see what fancy stepping she's got going on this month...

2013 Top Note Reindeer Box

Why, oh why, do I always get new, irresistible ideas at times that I should be doing things OTHER than playing with paper?? I saw this in my head and had to make it--I have no idea why I didn't make it last year, but I honestly don't think it would have come out exactly how I envisioned it without our new Baked Brown Sugar card stock. And we didn't have that last Christmas...so that will be my excuse ;-)

I apologize in advance for this hit & run project, but there was no way that my cat Gizmo was going to let me get a tutorial posted today*. I barely got a picture of the little reindeer before Gizmo pushed me out of the way. I guess I was squealing too much at the reindeer, and Gizmo got jealous. Silly cat, it's only paper.

Stampin' Supplies: Baked Brown Sugar card stock, Crumb Cake card stock, Whisper White card stock, Basic Black card stock, Cherry Cobbler card stock, XL Oval Punch, Small Oval Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Top Note Die (used with Big Shot), Autumn Accents Die (used with Big Shot), Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut and score card stock). [I also used 1/2 a Velcro™ self-adhesive dot to close the box.]

*If you can get going with just some of the measurements, take a peek at THIS PDF and you can at least get the instructions for how to make the box, how to score the Top Note, and how to do the basic box and head assembly.

You can find all these supplies, and more, in my ONLINE STORE. And while you're there...

Divine™ Jack-o-Lantern Mini Purse Favor

Raise your hand if you're tired of seeing Christmas stuff all over the place before Halloween. Yeah, I hear ya ;-) I am guilty of having shared 5 Christmas Cards in a row myself recently (oops). But today, I am really starting to dig in with the Halloween theme. Actually, this project I am sharing today does double duty--if you leave off the Jack-o-Lantern face, it makes a lovely Fall or Thanksgiving treat or table favor:

This Jack-o-Lantern Mini Purse Favor features Stampin' Up!'s Bigz L Petite Purse Die. This die will cut out the body of the purse, along with a purse strap. For this project, I elected to use the purse strap to hold four Divine™ Milk Chocolate Mini Pieces, as you see below. You could just leave your chocolates banging around the inside of the favor, but I thought it would be uber nifty for the recipient to open it up and pull out this tidy little package of awesomeness :-D

I love making decorative treat holders, but for the last several years, I've felt worse and worse about using what I call "big corporation candy". You know the candies I'm talking about. I love chocolate as much as the next folk, but as a grownup, an overwhelming part of the enjoyment I derive from chocolate now involves fairness in commerce, and wholesome ingredients. I'll post my rant on this later, but for now just believe me when I tell you that Divine™ chocolates live up to their name in every way! That's why I'll be featuring them in MANY more upcoming holiday projects--don't they look great together?

You'll find the list of supplies I used to create this project at the end of this post. If you need more detailed instructions, you may want to Subscribe to My Blog by Email so you don't miss my upcoming Jack-o-Lantern Mini Purse Favor Video Tutorial.

Look for Divine™ chocolates at your local natural food store, or buy them online:
http://www.divinechocolate.com OR http://www.serrv.org

Stampin' Supplies for this project can be found in my ONLINE STORE:
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Premium Crease Pad (113476), Bigz L Petite Purse Die (125606), Stripes Embossing Folder (123128), Pumpkin Pie card stock (105117), Basic Black card stock (121045), Always Artichoke card stock (105119), Baked Brown Sugar card stock(131296), XL Oval Punch (119859), Petite Pennants Punch (122361), Modern Label Punch (119849), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive (110755), Paper Snips (103579), Paper Trimmer (126889), Paper Piercing Tool (126189) optional.
