The 12 Days of Catmas: Day 2 - Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop

Welcome again to the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, that runs the first Friday of every month! You'll see projects from Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world in this blog hop. My name is Kimberley and I am in the United States, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This month's topic is All Wrapped Up, and the Cat's Out of the {Petite Café} Bag for Day 2 of my 12 Days of Catmas:

There's a lot of detail work on this bag, as well as a lot of coordinating product. Now, if I lived in the UK, I'd get a box of Fortnum & Mason Chocolate Langues de Chats (Cat Tongues) to give away in this bag...I think they'd be a perfect purrfect fit! Speaking of purrfect, don't forget to check out the Year End Close Out Sale to see if you can bag some deals for yourself on soon-to-be-retired holiday products.

Stampin' Supplies: Foxy Friends stamp set, Fox Builder Punch, Perfect Pines Framelits, Petite Café Gift Bag, A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Real Red 3/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon, Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine, Emerald Envy ink pad, Real Red ink pad and card stock, Smoky Slate ink pad and card stock, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Basic Black marker, Pink Pirouette card stock, Whisper White card stock, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, White Perfect Accents (colored with Sharpies for cat's eyes), Jolly Hat Builder Punch, Mini Jingle Bells, White Craft ink (for "snow" edging and details), VersaMark ink (for kitty foot prints).

The 12 Days of Catmas: Day 1 - December Step It Up Blog Hop

Welcome to the December 2016 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. My trigeminal neuralgia is making yet another painful and disruptive visit, but I really want to stamp, and cats make me happy so I decided to stamp some of them. I mean, stamp some images of cats onto projects...not stamp some of my actual cats. My hope is to share at least one new kitty kraft each day for a dozen days, and start a new annual tradition for my blog: The 12 Days of Catmas! I've seen several versions of this cat card running around Pinterest for a few years now, and I wanted to try one for myself:

Cute idea, right?? The Triple Banner Punch makes this card super easy, because it puts the tails--or EARS, in this case--on 3 sizes of strips: 1", 1-1/2", and 2". If you're clever and careful, you can fit some smaller and in between sizes down into the punch also, but it is specifically marked for those 3 sizes. The nose/eyes image comes from the Foxy Friends stamp set, and there are actually 3 different nose/eyes images, so you can use a different one on each kitty. The whiskers are just drawn on with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. You could easily make a good number of these fairly quickly.

Stampin' Supplies: Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Smoky Slate card stock, Soft Sky card stock, Whisper White card stock, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Basic Black marker, Metallic Sequins Assortment, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Triple Banner Punch.

The Step It Up version adds a lot more layers and texture...tails and whiskers! I'll be honest, it was very time consuming, and I used a LOT of different tools, but (I think) the results are pawsitively stunning >^..^<

Stampin' Supplies: Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Smoky Slate card stock, Soft Sky card stock, Whisper White card stock, Pink Pirouette card stock, Silver Metallic Foil card stock, Basic Black card stock, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Stampin' Sponge, Basic Black marker, Metallic Sequins Assortment, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Boho Chic Embossing Folder, Sparkle Embossing Folder, Seaside Embossing Folder, Triple Banner Punch, Fox Builder Punch (for smallest nose), Owl Builder Punch (eyes, hearts with tops cut off for bigger noses), Sprinkles Punch (smallest black pupils, tails), 1/16" Handheld Circle Punch, Whisper White Thick Baker's Twine.

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Festive Treats

This is the third month of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, that runs the first Friday of every month! You'll see projects from stampers from all over the world! My name is Kimberley and I am in the United States, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This month's topic is FESTIVE, and I'm sharing my Ghirardelli Chocolate Square Treat Holder.

This is a reworked pattern, based on a holder from a tutorial I previously shared HERE. The original pattern used several items which are now retired. I'll be sharing an updated tutorial next week featuring the Classic Label Punch.

Stampin' Supplies: Candy Cane Christmas stamp set, Candy Cane Lane DSP, Crumb Cake card stock and ink, Real Red card stock and ink, Real Red 3/4" Stitched Ribbon, Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine, Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape, Classic Label Punch, Decorative Label Punch, 2" Circle Punch, 1/8" Handheld Circle Punch, 1/16" Handheld Circle Punch, Basic Rhinestones. (optional: 1/4" Handheld Circle Punch - retired but currently on Clearance Rack...SUPER handy for wide ribbon, go get it before it's gone!)

Here are some other FESTIVE samples made from the original tutorial, chock full of retired images and product, but you can see how they work throughout the year. They make adorable table favors for Thanksgiving, perfect stocking stuffers at Christmas time, and a rich treat for your favorite sweetie come Valentine's Day:

November Step It Up Blog Hop - Marbled Pumpkin Leaves

Welcome to the November 2016 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. This month I created a background design with Shaving Cream and ink refills, and used the October Paper Pumpkin kit to create two cards. The first card was created pretty much the same way the kit showed to assemble the cards, except I used the punched out layer of leaves as a stencil for the background I created for the stepped up card!

Stampin' Supplies: October 2016 Paper Pumpkin Season of Gratitude stamp set, All Card Stock was included in kit: Tip Top Taupe, Very Vanilla (crimped), Cajun Craze label, Delightful Dijon banner; Chocolate Chip ink pad (included in Paper Pumpkin kit), Cajun Craze+Delightful Dijon+Pumpkin Pie ink refills (used in Shaving Cream for background), Old Olive Baker's Twine (in kit), Sequins (in kit).

My stepped up version also uses the leaf pieces that were punched out from the kit, to sponge around (with Versamark) for a subtle coordinating background. And I used the Best Badge Punch for the sentiment and banner in place of the die cuts that came in the Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Stampin' Supplies: October 2016 Paper Pumpkin Season of Gratitude stamp set, Tip Top Taupe card stock and ink, VersaMark ink+Sponge Daubers, Very Vanilla card stock, Cajun Craze card stock, Delightful Dijon card stock, Cajun Craze+Delightful Dijon+Pumpkin Pie ink refills (used in Shaving Cream for background), Old Olive Baker's Twine and Sequins (from Paper Pumpkin kit), Stampin' Sponge (ink around Very Vanilla layers).

My Wil-Wheat-On Card

Okay, so it really should be called a "will-put-wheat-on-my" card...but I like the Star Trek reference better ;-) Honestly, I thought I already posted this card, but apparently not. I've had too many days either in pain or in la-la land on Motrin, so I really need to hit someone up in the Harry Potter kingdom for a Remembrall. Anyway, I was trying to play along with the Splitcoaststampers Falliday Fest, and have since fallen quite behind, but this was my card from one of the challenges on Day 1 (that was way back on October 9th).

The challenge was to incorporate wheat into your card. I didn't have any wheat images, but I did notice that one of the pine bough images from the Christmas Pines stamp set reminded me of wheat. So, I stamped it out and fussy cut (or as it's known in my house, fu@*y cut) the center piece from the bough, stripping some of the "needles" off each side near the bottom, to give me a stem for each piece. It was either a labor of love, or a labor of lunacy, the jury is still out on that one ;-)

Stampin' Supplies: Christmas Pines stamp set, Grateful Bunch stamp set (saying), Crumb Cake card stock, Very Vanilla card stock, Soft Suede card stock and ink, Delightful Dijon ink, Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper, Seaside Embossing Folder (used with Big Shot), Copper Metallic Thread, Basic Pearls (colored with Bronze Sharpie to look copper).

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Colour Challenge

This is the second month of a BRAND NEW blog hop, and you'll get to meet more stampers from all over the world in this round! My name is Kimberley and I am in the United States, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This month we get to share a Colour/Color Challenge ;-) We can use any or all of these colors, along with Basic Black, Whisper White and/or Very Vanilla.

I decided to use all of the colors, on a Very Vanilla base, to create my own background paper for something called a One Sheet Wonder. This is the 8-1/2" x 11" sheet I used to create my patterned paper using the Foxy Friends stamp set:

Then I cut this sheet according to the directions in my One Sheet Wonder Cutting Template & Card Pattern PDF, and laid them out onto 10 card bases. I decided to use Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon for the bases, so I could stamp greetings on them using the Basic Black Archival ink pad. For the greetings, I used only the Tin of Cards stamp set. I might spruce up these cards later with bits of bling here and there, but for now I wanted to keep them simple to show how quickly you can create a handful of cards.

I *never* would have put all these colors together on my own, so this really was a challenge for me. I think this set of cards certainly gives you a good idea of the versatility of the Foxy Friends stamp set. I might have to make another patterned sheet using the fox only with Cucumber Crush and Real Red for some super adorable Christmas cards!

October Step It Up Blog Hop - Spooky Little Treats

Welcome to the October 2016 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. This month I created a basic design with the Spooky Fun stamp set to hold Halloween treats, trying to keep it simple. Check out my basic design below, along with a side view. There are 2 snack size Heath bars in the wrap on the left, and 2 Hershey Nuggets in the little wrap on the right.

Stampin' Supplies: Spooky Fun stamp set, Pumpkin Pie Card Stock, Basic Gray Card Stock, Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (stamped off once for the lighter images), Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine, 1/8" Circle/Hole Punch, Decorative Label Punch.

My stepped up version is a little treat box that can hold either 1 snack size Hershey or Heath bar, OR 3 Hershey Nuggets. This design features Designer Series Paper, because there is a Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Designer Series Paper Sale going on during the month of October for select packages in My Online Store! Designer Series Paper adds a quick burst of color without much work on your part...it takes pretty much any project from Cute, to Super Cute, in a flash ;-)

You might notice that on my stepped up project I used Peekaboo Peach card stock instead of Pumpkin Pie. I thought the Peekaboo Peach coordinated well with the piece of Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper that I used around the box, and gave it a brighter look. The little tag on the candy bar is just the Decorative Label Punch, punched out of an already punched piece to make it shorter. I'll do a video to show this project some time after my October 1st World Card Making Day Event :-D

Stampin' Supplies: Spooky Fun stamp set, Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper, Peekaboo Peach Card Stock, Basic Gray Card Stock, Pumpkin Pie ink pad (for the moon), Basic Gray Archival Pad (for the witch), Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (stamped off once for the lighter images), Decorative Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones (colored with black Sharpie), 3/4" Circle Punch (for the thumb cutout on the box lid).

By the way, the Spooky Fun stamp set also comes in a BUNDLE, with some amazingly darling Halloween Scenes Edgelits, with dies to cut out the witch, gravestones, pumpkins, and the big bat...and Edgelits, to cut out a fence, and a gnarly, spooky tree!

Kitten Care Fundraiser - Urgent thru Sept 30

I've been a little MIA lately because we've taken in TWO kittens whose feral mom basically brought to our back door and adopted out to us. There's a cute back story there, but the issue for us immediately is that we already have two cats, and feeding and caring for two more is stretching things. There's NO space in any rescue in town for these guys, so we are caring for them but the only appropriate isolated space we have is in my son's room...which is unfortunately the smallest room in the house! Before I go any further, here's a picture of the darlings (complete with their Stampin' Up! box for a bed in the background, lol), I think they're maybe around 12 weeks old now:

Wilbur in front, Merlin peeking over from behind.

If you are interested and able, here are a couple of ways you can help us:
  1. Place an order in my Online Store through September 30th, and use Host Code GFNHJ3HN and 25% of your merchandise total will go towards our kitten care. The goal thru September 30th is $600 in merchandise, which will give us $150 for kitten care. (the Stampin' Rewards on that Host Code will then be used to purchase supplies to make kitty cards my kids and I can sell for further kitten care)
  2. If you use, or can set up, the Square Cash app on your phone, I can accept your direct donation at $procrastistamper with no fees (for you or for me) and you might get us BOTH $10 when you send $50, if you are new to the app and give me your info so I can send you an Invitation!
  3. If you are more comfortable with sending gift certificates, the pet store nearest to me is PetSmart. I'm pretty sure you can send electronic gift certificates to an email address. You can find mine below my "signature" on this post.
It's difficult to get pictures of black cats, but if you look closely, you might be able to see that each of their left ears are "tipped" (cut straight across). This is an indication that they are feral cats who have been trapped, neutered, and released back where they were found. The thing is, these kittens are so NOT feral in character. They were crying at our back door to come in and live with us after we played with them in our backyard one afternoon. That, plus the fact that their mom had another litter of two very young ones with her to care for, is why we took them in. We have cougars, foxes, raccoons, and bears in our neighborhood, as we are basically at the foot of a national forest, so we couldn't leave them outside our door crying.

We're going to keep Merlin, because our two other cats seem less threatened by him, but we need to get Wilbur adopted out. We've talked to a rescue about the possibility of us taking care of Wilbur at our home and taking him to their adoption events on the weekend, but we haven't heard back from them about the details. If they do let us do that, they will cover vet visits for Wilbur, but not likely for Merlin (since we're keeping him), so there's another expense we're looking to cover. Any beds/toys/supplies we get for Wilbur can go with him to his new home if the adoptive parents want them, but we're also looking to get some kitty walls/gates that we can use to expand the kittens' isolated living area through our hallway. And, we give our kitties a raw food feline diet, so feeding two ravenous, growing, furballs is getting crazy--they actually eat TWICE as much as our two existing cats right now!

Any way you can help is greatly appreciated, and I'll be sure to send you a kitty card thank you in return, if you'll give me your snail mail address >^..^<

NEW Clearance Rack Items PLUS a NEW Project

You'll want to go check out the Clearance Rack right away, there are LOADS of great deals on holiday crafting supplies...plus a few special stamp sets which have not been featured in any catalog. They were released monthly as Stampin' Up! was doing Monthly Release Photopolmer Stamps. In a tiny bout of synchronicity, I just created a new project sample with one of those sets, Lovely Amazing You, which is now at 60% OFF while supplies last! (sorry, the pics are a bit rough, I just snapped them quickly with my phone last night and then saw this morning that the set is on sale!)

Those are just the prototype samples I made for my new project, I'll have a tutorial available for you shortly. But you'll want to grab the Lovely Amazing You stamp set before it's gone if you like this "anytime" theme. In my tutorial I'll show you samples for more occasions and holidays--it quite efficiently uses 6"x6" or 12"x12" DSP so there are millions of possibilities! The inside of the little box will hold 3 chocolate nuggets, or one fun/snack size candy bar. Let me show you the entire Lovely Amazing You stamp set, and a few more darling projects, to show you how badly you need this set...by the way, that envelope image from the set would look so cool stamped behind the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp, don't you think?

And while you're over there on the Clearance Rack, check out the discount DSPs you could use to make my new little project. And how cute would it be for Halloween to stamp the "Bite Me" saying from the Bite Me photopolymer stamp set on a tag for this chocolate box, and then punch a corner of the tag out with the with 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch to look like a chomp mark?? Or, you could make some stocking stuffers using the Christmas Tagables photopolymer stamp set on the tag. But seriously, get over to the Clearance Rack NOW, your chance to grab your discount handmade holiday supplies is disappearing fast.

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Seasonal Catalog with a Twist!

This is a BRAND NEW blog hop, and you'll get to meet some stampers from all over the world in it! My name is Kimberley and I am in the United States, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. You might notice that the blog post refers to a "seasonal" catalog...here in North America, our seasonal catalog is called the Holiday Catalog. I believe in the UK, their catalog is called the Autumn-Winter Catalogue. The theme of this blog hop is a "with a twist", which I took to mean using something from the Holiday Catalog in a way other than it might have been intended to be used. For my project, I am featuring the Totally Trees stamp set, which looks like this:

Cool set, huh? There are solid images that you can stamp in color, and then stamp the branches or leaf detail over the top in a dark color, and it looks like a tree with a bit of depth. This is an AMAZING set because you can really use it any time of year. Just grab yourself a versatile saying set to use with it, and you're good to go. Of course, being in the Holiday Catalog, it was intended to be used for Fall/Winter looks. But, I came up with something summery, and it's not just the palm tree. Well, the palm tree helped. Take a look and then I'll explain a little:

So, you can probably pick out a couple of the images I used, but these waffle cones might have you stumped. I'll give you a closer look.

To make the waffle cone texture, I first inked up the "cone" shape in Sahara Sand, then I inked up ONLY the trunk of the palm tree in Crumb Cake and stamped criss-cross lines all over the inked up stamp. Then I refreshed all the ink with a little exhale on the stamp, and stamped it down. Actually, the two outside cones are Sahara Sand/Crumb Cake, and the middle cone is Crumb Cake/Soft Suede. There was a tiny squiggly dot in the stamp set that I used as a chocolate chip on the Mint Macaron scoop, and a tiny oval I inked up and cut out to be like a cherry on top of the chocolate scoop. I covered the cherry with the Fine Tip Glue Pen so it would be all shiny and round. Those clear sequins on the Flirty Flamingo scoop come from the Metallic Sequin Assortment.

The saying at the bottom comes from the You're So Sweet stamp set, I markered in only the words I wanted on the image. The Soft Suede card stock underneath was run through the Big Shot with the Sparkle Embossing Folder--twice. I shifted the design a bit after the first time to fill in the spaces a little more. I thought it sort of coordinated with the criss-cross look of the cones. The green dots are White Perfect Accents that I colored with a mint colored Sharpie.

That wraps it up for me, click the Next or Previous arrow below to find more twists around the world!
