I celebrated my 25th anniversary with Stampin' Up! in August, and to celebrate, I am offering an additional 25% OFF on December 11th ONLY, as a personal offer. I'm basically giving you my commission on your orders, to piggyback onto the Free Shipping promotion that Stampin' Up! is offering, which is a HECK of a deal!
(this offer is only available through Kimberley Morris, Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator)

 Here are the Rules:
1) you MUST contact me directly and place your order with a credit card.
(do NOT include payment details in your email, I will call you for those)

That way, we aren't playing phone tag or staying on the phone for unnecessary amounts of time.

Now, if you have questions before you decide what you want to order, by all means DO give me call at 719-205-5957 so I can help you with whatever information I might have. Please just call and leave ONE message for me to call back if I don't answer, and I will get to you as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: I am unable to extend the 25% OFF deal to you through my Online Store. I am not offering any refunds to reflect this discount after the fact. The only way I can give you this special offer is if you follow the steps outlined above!!!

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Foil and Glimmer

Welcome to the December 2019 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects from around the world--but I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Foil and Glimmer! My project today once again features products from the 2019 Holiday Catalog!
{you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post!}

WOW...ever have one of those days when *nothing* seems to go right?? I was fine until I sat down to get this blog post ready! Then, every time I went to use a program or a tool, it needed to be updated before it would work right, or I just couldn't find the darn thing!!! Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhh...! I think there's some sort of metaphysical law that states you have to have at least one of those days every year, so at least mine is out of the way now.

I'm not great at glitzy-type cards, so this was a little outside my wheelhouse. I borrowed some elements that were prepared by a fellow demonstrator for a Make & Take card at an OnStage Pre-Party in Las Vegas last month, and I swapped some pieces in and some pieces out. The original card had gold on it, but I prefer silver with blue, so I changed the layout a bit.

First, I cut away a bit of the foliage from the Bermuda Bay frame, and just left the snowflakes. Then, I "painted" over a few of the snowflakes on the frame design with Clear Wink of Stella, and put a Basic Rhinestone in the center of each. On the Very Vanilla die cut snowflakes, I added tiny dots of Shimmery Crystal Effects in several places, and then adhered a shiny silver circle from the Snowflake Sequins.

To finish it off, I added a few more pieces from the Snowflake Sequins against the shiny blue Noble Peacock Foil Sheet. Both the Foil Sheet, as well as the Pool Party Cardstock layer, were run through a cut/emboss machine with the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder to get that cool flurry-looking pattern.

TIP: you can use the Shimmery Crystal Effects to glue on your Snowflake Sequins!

Stampin' Supplies: Frosted Foliage BUNDLE, Very Vanilla Cardstock, Pool Party Cardstock, Bermuda Bay Cardstock, Pretty Peacock Ink Pad, Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder, Noble Peacock Foil Sheets, Clear Wink of Stella, Shimmery Crystal Effects, Basic Rhinestones, Snowflake Sequins, Mini Glue Dots, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Grid Paper, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut and score cardstock).

Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Halloween/Harvest

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Halloween/Harvest! Posts will feature Stampin' Up! products or projects with a Halloween or Harvest theme. For my project today, I am finishing up a 13 Days of All Hallows' Eve advent! The coffins are actually going to be attached to paper covered chipboard from the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, and the whole thing will tilt back slightly on easel legs made from chipboard in the Coffin Boxes package...it's kind of a "reuse-recycle" project in that respect. And yes, the boxes will sort of hang off the sides and top, it looks a little more creepy that way!
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

The orange underneath the 12x12 base is a piece of felt that I was using to try to get a little better contrast for my picture. Now, as you can see, this project is not quite finished yet. Health and technology issues have been slowing me down. But, I already showed you how to create all the little coffins that open at the top, on THIS POST. The Stampin' Supplies at the end of this blog post will assume that you want to recreate all the little coffins for your advent in that manner. (Note: if you want to create the candy wrappers featured in THIS POST, for tucking inside your coffins, you'll also want to purchase the Monster Bash BUNDLE and the other supplies listed on that post!)

The picture above shows a peek under the large custom coffin box that I made - the lid is coffin shaped but the box underneath is rectangular. I am carefully walking through the rest of the project, because I am trying to make it easy for you to recreate with just the few Stampin' Supplies below. To facilitate this, I will need to make PDF for you with the numbers and the "Trick or Treat" greeting and the "title" corner, so you can just punch or cut those out. I'll also include a template of my large coffin box lid for you, and instructions on how to make the rectangular box. Then, I'd like to run through the steps for you in a video. I'll be spending the rest of my afternoon working this out for you, and will hopefully have the printable file, and all the pieces and steps laid out for you to follow in the easiest way possible by tomorrow.

Stampin' Supplies: Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, Coffin Boxes,
Basic Black Cardstock, Basic Black 3/8" Scalloped Edge Ribbon, 1" Circle Punch (if you'd like to punch the numbers out), 1-1/2" Circle Punch (to punch out the number 31), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Black Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Grid Paper, Stampin' Trimmer (RETIRED - for cutting & scoring). {optional: stapler to attach ribbon loop to coffin}

Faux Watercolor with Abstract Impressions

Today, I am playing along for the first time with Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights contest, with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators all over the world. (I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the US) This month's theme is Encouragement...it's all about sharing love and building up others. You can help me participate in a Winners blog hop by VOTING for my card! The Top Ten winners will be doing a blog hop together later in the month, hosted by Kylie (who lives in Australia).{Links to purchase product in the US are included near the bottom of the post.}

VOTE FOR MY CARD HERE!
(if you can't vote there, try the October InLinkz gallery HERE)

I love the look of Watercolor, but I will readily admit that I don't feel comfortable enough with my skills to do what I would call "real" watercoloring. Stampin' Up! does carry some *gorgeous* abstract "painted" Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper at the moment, but I wanted to create something using the colors that were in my head. So, I grabbed the Abstract Impressions Photopolymer Stamp Set, and decided to experiment!

I used Shimmery White Cardstock and just started stamping images from the set in a bunch of different ink colors. For the grass, I used Soft Seafoam, Granny Apple Green, and Call Me Clover. The big flowers were a mixture of Blueberry Bushel, Bermuda Bay, and Pacific Point. I used Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape for the daisy-looking flowers, and then layered Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody for the little round flowers.

It really looked pretty harsh and stiff when I was done stamping, but I was on a mission. I took that stamped piece into the bathroom and set it in the sink, and sprayed water on it with a Stampin' Spritzer. That's when the magic happened!!! I had some paper toweling ready, in case I got a little over-zealous. And I put it to use when the card stock started arching up, and a bunch of the blue ink started dripping down into the green of the grass. I dabbed off the extra drips - you'll wanna make sure you are always using a clean part of your toweling for that - and then actually spritzed the blue drips back in the direction I wanted to keep them, and dabbed off again. It was super cool.

Once I had all the colors in the areas I wanted, I dabbed the piece as dry as I could get it, and then dried it further with my Heat Tool. Because I got it so wet, it was still a bit crinkly after it dried. So, to adhere it evenly to the Blueberry Bushel Cardstock base, I used Foam Adhesive Strips in several rows all across the back, and then a few more strips up each side.

All that was left at that point was to stamp the greeting with the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad, onto a scrap piece of Shimmery White Cardstock, and punch it out with the Everyday Label Punch. I wanted the greeting to stand out just a little bit from the background, so I added some edging around the punched piece using Stampin' Sponges and the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad. Then, I grabbed some more of those Foam Adhesive Strips that I already had sitting out on my desk, and popped the punched piece up just a bit. The final touch is some simple Linen Thread wrapped around the bottom of the focal layer a few times, and tied in a bow.

This was my first experiment with this type of Faux Watercolor, and I think it turned out marvelously, even if I do say so myself! If you love the soft look of watercolor, but don't feel skilled enough to take brushes to canvas...then grab some Shimmery White Cardstock and a Stampin' Spritzer and run some experiments of your own. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results!
