A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Haunts & Harvests

Welcome to our SEPTEMBER 2021 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Each month we share alternate projects using Stampin' Up!'s Paper Pumpkin Kit! We usually hop on the last Thursday of the month, though the kits were shipping kind of late for a while there...but now we're back on track!

  My alternate project this month is a little cauldron. Yes, again. Lol. I made one of these from last year's September kit, you can find that one on THIS POST. I can't help it, Stampin' Up! just gave us another die cut and kit that works so perfectly for this project! All I added to the kit contents was a single StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, some Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and candy. I guess I also used the Take Your Pick Tool to punch some holes, so you may want to have that handy, as well.
{you'll find product purchase links beneath the Blog Roll, near the bottom of the post}

Our Paper Pumpkin kit for September was called Haunts & Harvest. It came with supplies to create 12 treat boxes, which you could fashion as pumpkins, apples, or jack-o-lanterns. And for a BONUS this month, there were outlines printed on the inside of the box, which was patterned in wood grain just like the outside, and you can cut and assemble those pieces to make a cute little wheelbarrow! Above is a picture of how the treat boxes would look if you make them according to the kit directions. Below is a video showing the assembly of the wheelbarrow. {if you are reading this blog post in your email, you will want to click on the title of the post to view it in your browser, so you can watch the video.}

I used one of the treat boxes with Pale Papaya on one side and Soft Succulent on the other. I laid the box with the Pale Papaya side up, and tapped the StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad over the whole surface to color it black. I cut off the small tabs all along the bottom, as well as the hexagon, though I set that aside to use later. I applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the long tab and adhered that just as I would to make the treat box. And I folded the top pieces just like the treat box, too. Then I applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the hexagon piece I set aside, and smooshed the top of the treat box - which is now the bottom of the cauldron - to it, to create a base. You could try using the glue dots that come in the kit, but the Multipurpose Liquid Glue does not set immediately, so it helps you to move the pieces for a moment, to give you the look you want.

I cut one of the paper covered wires from the kit in half, and used one half for the cauldron handle. The Take Your Pick Tool comes in handy to punch holes for that, or you could use a small hole punch if you have one. I unwrapped some of the bottom of the other half of the paper covered wire, laid it flat on my Grid Paper, and swiped the StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad over it...which ended up looking like broom bristles to me. I pulled the wire out of the center of that piece, but you could leave it in if you want. I would just cut off the part behind the "bristle" area, or fold that part up so the end isn't sticking out, so no one gets poked on it. I stamped the die cut leaves with the StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, and stamped the greeting on the tag with the Soft Succulent Ink Pad (the same color as the Stampin' Spot that came in the kit), and attached those as shown. I then took the tissue the kit was packed in, and cut that in half, then folded that half so I had 6 equal square-ish pieces (meaning I'd have 12 total from the whole sheet), and cut them apart. Then I tucked one of those pieces into the cauldron, and put the candy in on top of that.

Stampin' Supplies: September 2021 Haunts & Harvest Paper Pumpkin Kit, Soft Succulent Ink Pad (ink spot is included in the kit), StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, Mini Glue Dots (included in kit), Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, Take Your Pick Tool, Bone Folder (optional), Paper Snips, Simply Shammy (to clean photopolymer stamps), Grid Paper.

13 Days of Handmade Halloween Day 2: Tombstone Treat Holder

Today's project is a Tombstone Treat Holder! This treat holder features the Clever Cat Stamp Set, as well as a stamp set you can earn for FREE with a $50 purchase in My Online Store during Sale-a-Bration (which runs through September 30th)...the Textures and Frames Stamp Set. The "tomb" shape is created using the Tailor Made Tags Dies.

I tried to keep the supplies relatively simple again, using only Basic White Cardstock, and Basic Gray Cardstock. I used three ink pads for this project: Memento Tuxedo Black, Basic Gray, and Mango Melody. The treat inside is a Ferrero Rocher chocolate candy, and the trick to holding everything together is Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Round & Square Brads! The Stampin' Pierce Mat and the Take Your Pick Tool also play a key role in the show.

You can get ALL the details including supplies, instructions, measurements, and tips, in a live video tutorial I've posted in my Facebook Group: procrastistamper's pad. You will need to click that link to join my group, if you want to watch the video, but it's totally free. 13 Days of Handmade Halloween Day 1: Bagalope Treat Pouch

Today's project is a Bagalope Treat Pouch - the bagalope is a super old paper crafting trick where you score an envelope to make a little bag out of it. Way back in the day, we usually cut off the envelope flap and just left the top of the bagalope open, and stuffed it with some tissue. This version leaves the Basic White Medium Envelope flap mostly intact. You do cut off the gummed part of the envelope flap during the assembly, and for my version of this pouch, you set aside that piece to use later for the sentiment on the bag!

My project is also sized to use (1) sheet of 6"x6" paper, like the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper shown in my samples, efficiently, so you'll have enough to make 4 pouches out of each sheet. The paper coordinates beautifully with the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set, and you can stamp images to coordinate with any of the patterned papers if you grab the following ink pads: Old Olive, Highland Heather, and Pumpkin Pie.

You can get ALL the details including supplies, instructions, measurements, and tips, in a live video tutorial I've posted in my Facebook Group: procrastistamper's pad. You will need to click that link to join my group, if you want to watch the video, but it's totally free. 13 Days of Handmade Halloween - September 19th thru October 1st

I really love Halloween, but I always start making my projects way too late! I thought I'd try to get a head start this year, and share 13 projects with you by the 1st of October. That way, you can have plenty of time to order any supplies you might need, to get your projects made on time.

Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Golden Rule Days

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Golden Rule Days! Our posts will feature projects that have something to do with school! For my project, I am showing a card I recently LEARNED to make...how educational is that?? Lol.
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

I used items from the Cute Halloween Suite Collection, featuring the Cutest Halloween BUNDLE (stamp set + Halloween Punch) for this card. Depending on what supplies you have, you can color in the images from the stamp set with ink pads, Stampin' Write Markers, or Stampin' Blends. I strategically chose the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad for the outlines because it does not bleed when used with Stampin' Blends...which is what I chose for coloring. And the black works great for all the sentiments, as well..

However, I did want to stamp the little candy corns with an orange outline, so I also used the Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad (because you cannot use Stampin' Blends to ink up an image you want to stamp). I used the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the bottom of each candy corn. Just like the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad, our Classic Stampin' Pads also do not bleed when colored over with Stampin' Blends.

One reason I chose Stampin' Blends for coloring is because I love the way they add color to the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper. The front of each sheet of this paper collection is printed in color, and the back of each colored sheet is printed in either black & white, or gray & white. You can see how I added the color to the gray & white sheet I used on the left side strip below: skulls are in Old Olive Stampin' Blends, ghosts are in Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends, pumpkins are in Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends, bats are in Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.

If you look closely at the haunted house paper in the center of the card in the above picture, you can see I colored the little moons with Light Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends. And then you can see on the left panel in the picture below, the paper with the cool black squiggles on it had a white background, but I colored over that with the Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.

I have heard this card called a Pinwheel Card, but I feel like it's kind of more of a Carousel Card to me. The measurements are such that it folds flat, and fits in a Basic White Medium Envelope for mailing! The assembly for the card is not hard at all, but a visual explanation is probably best. I will try to show you that tomorrow in a livestream on my Facebook Business Page, then I'll come back in and drop the video here on this post so you can have the direct link.

Stampin' Supplies: Cutest Halloween BUNDLE (Cutest Halloween stamp set + Halloween Builder Punch), Basic White Cardstock, Basic Gray Cardstock, Highland Heather Cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad, Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad, Stampin Blends Combo Packs (Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, and Daffodil Delight), Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Paper Trimmer, Grid Paper, Bone Folder, Simply Shammy (to clean photopolymer stamps). And don't forget to grab some Basic White Medium Envelopes for mailing your cards!
