Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Happy NEW Year

Welcome to the JANUARY 2023 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Happy NEW Year! We are going to share some new products with you! For my project I am featuring the Love Cats stamp set...my favorite new set from the NEW 2023 Jan-Apr Mini Catalog. {you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}

Today I just went with something simple, and created some Valentine's Day cards with the Love Cats stamp set, Kraft Notecards & Envelopes, and the new Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.

I ran out of time today to get the envelopes done for you, but you can take a coordinating 2"x6" strip of the Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper, adhere it to the envelope flap, and then trim away the excess. If you trim each sheet of your Country Gingham paper to 2"x6", you will end up with 144 strips. You can keep 96 of those strips at 2"x6" for envelope flaps, then cut each of the remaining strips to 2"x3" to make 96 cards. There are 3 cat designs in the stamp set, so you could get 32 sets of 3 cards with coordinating envelopes from just one package of the Country Gingham paper.

The Kraft Notecards & Envelopes come with 20 notecards and 20 envelopes. If you buy 5 packages of those, that will give you 100 notecards and 100 envelopes...enough to make your 96 cards with coordinating envelopes from just ONE package of Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.

And, I purposefully cut the Basic White Cardstock layer to 2-1/8"x3-1/2" so you can cut enough for 12 of these cards from a letter-sized sheet of cardstock. So, you'll need only 8 sheets of Basic White Cardstock to make your 96 cards.

STAMPING TIPS: stamp the "hanging" cat as far up as looks okay to you on the white panel, and more towards the right edge of the panel, to leave room for the 'hanging out' greeting. You might find that it helps to angle the stamp, with the left side of the hanging line up father than the right side. Stamp the "shelf" cat up to the top of the white panel, and consider even stamping so the very top heart of the 3 doesn't stamp on the panel (as I did), and more towards the right edge (which I didn't do). That will give you plenty of room under the cat for any of the 3 greetings to fit.

TOOL TRICKS: if you use the Stamparatus when stamping the solid cat images, you can easily correct any missing spots on the stamped image! And, if you want to do this project with kids, use the Stamparatus so you can position each stamp for them optimally on each panel, and the kids can re-stamp whenever necessary. If you are working with children, I also recommend you use the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad instead of StazOn permanent ink. You will not have to use the harsh solvent StazOn cleaner around the little ones - you can wipe Memento ink off your stamps and Stamparatus with a Simply Shammy and water. And if you want to color in the hearts on each cat image to coordinate with the color of the greeting you stamped, pick up a package of Blender Pens. You can dip a Blender Pen into the ink in the lid of your inkpad, and basically use the Blender Pen as a marker in that same ink color!

Stampin' Supplies: Love Cats stamp set, Basic White Cardstock, Kraft Notecards & Envelopes, StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, Sweet Sorbet Ink Pad, Mint Macaron Ink Pad, Balmy Blue Ink Pad,  Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper, Festive Pearls (carried over from last catalog), Stampin' Seal (or Multipurpose Liquid Glue), Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Mist & Stampin' Scrub (to clean red rubber stamps), StazOn Cleaner, Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Bone Folder, Grid Paper. {see Product Purchase Links under the Blog Roll}

We Create Blog Hop - VERY Last Chance + Sneak Peeks

Welcome to the JANUARY 2023 "VERY Last Chance + Sneak Peeks" Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month the focus will be projects using products from the Last Chance List* (last day to order is Jan 4th), and/or Sneak Peeks using products from the upcoming 2023 Jan-Apr Mini Catalog and 2023 Sale-a-Bration promotion (BOTH will debut January 5th). I am featuring the soon Retiring Yeti to Party. *Products from the Last Chance List are available through January 4th, or while supplies last, so some products may already be sold out.
{scroll to the bottom of this post for ALL product purchase links}

Right now you can get a screamin' deal on the Yeti to Party Stamp Set, Yeti Dies, Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems, Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder, and Snowfall Accents Puff Paint that I used on this card. Everything except the Yeti Dies are in the Last Chance Products section of My Online Store, and the dies are on the Clearance Rack. Normally you'd pay $68 to get all those supplies, but right now you can get them for more than HALF OFF, at $27.20 for the lot! Scroll down below the Blog Roll on this post to click the links that will take you to these products in my store. It's kind of hard to see in the picture below, but the white part of the mountains, the yeti's body, the snowflakes, and even the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint all have a faint shimmer from the Clear Wink of Stella Brush.

I also used some Blender Pens with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad to color in the tops of the mountains, and with the Soft Suede Ink Pad, to color in the hot cocoa cup, and to add some color to highlight the yeti's face and feet. I also used it to go over the little embossed marks on the scarf, but that's hard to see in this light. I held my Paper Snips open and used them like a hobby blade to slice around the yeti's paw so I could tuck the hot cocoa cup under it. Another one thing I'd like to point out on the close-up below, is the wrinkle marks around the edges of the die cuts. I loaned out my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, so I had to use my old Big Shot with these dies...that's what left the wrinkle marks! If you have not yet purchased the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, it works SOOOO much better - with the embossing folders, as well. It's totally worth getting. (But you might want to wait until January 5th, when you can choose a free item for every $50 you spend, during Sale-a-Bration.)

The Yeti to Party Stamp Set is great for winter themed projects, because it's not totally about Christmas. A picture of the stamp set is below. You can easily trim apart the photopolymer stamps to rearrange the greetings to say things like: "is it your birthday Yeti?", or "winter wishes & hugs", or "birthday wishes". And you can see the images aren't all just about Christmas, either. I love the little hot cocoa cup.

I can't share the insides of the 2023 Jan-Apr Mini Catalog, or the 2023 Jan-Feb Sale-a-Bration Brochure with you yet. Come back to my blog to grab your digital copies on January 5th! In the meantime, I can share the catalog and brochure cover, and some of the goodies I pre-ordered.
