A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Hugs from Shelli

Welcome to our May 2019 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Each month we share alternate projects using Stampin' Up!'s Paper Pumpkin Kit! Our Paper Pumpkin kit this month is called Hugs From Shelli. It came with supplies to make 12 cards (3 each of 4 styles) with coordinating envelopes. The picture below shows the cards according to the kit directions.

You can watch a replay of a livestream VIDEO of me unboxing and assembling this month's kit according to the package instructions, on my Facebook Business Page by either clicking the image above, or clicking HERE.

I had an awful time coming up with alternates this month, because the cards in the kit are just so gorgeous I didn't want to make anything different! I'm not usually a fan of florals, but I absolutely LOVE the little pink flowers on these cards, so I went with kind of a floral theme for my projects.

My first project is an alternate card that looks like a flower pot. I usually try to stick close to the kit contents, but I added some of our NEW Terracotta Tile Cardstock & Ink (available for order June 4th) for the flower pot, and a bit of Petal Pink Cardstock & Ink behind the flower pot. I stamped the splotches from the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin stamp set on the flower pot and pink cardstock in the same color ink as the cardstock, after stamping OFF once, so the images would be a bit lighter. It adds some visual texture without competing with the focal images.

I also stamped the splotches from the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin stamp set on the pre-printed flower card front in Early Espresso Ink (the color of the ink spot included in the kit), after stamping OFF once, so they would be a bit lighter. Stamping in full strength ink seemed too dark for this delicate print. The "twine" I used to tie a bow also came in the kit, but our Linen Thread from our retail offering is pretty much the same thing - and it's a great staple supply you'll want to have on hand.

My daughter bought a few pieces of Seed Paper recently, that fit perfectly in this Bagalope I created from a coordinating envelope from the kit for my second project. To make it, just seal the envelope, score 3/8" from the bottom and side edges, then trim off the top of the sealed envelope to create a pocket. Stick your hand down in the pocket, and pop the bottom score line in, and fold the side score lines, just like a paper grocery bag. You'll end up with a little triangle on each side at the bottom, which you can fold under and adhere with Mini Glue Dots.

Again, I used the twine from the kit for the bow, and the little "For You" tag is actually the back of a piece of the pre-printed floral card front I trimmed away to cover the flower pot on the card. It was also stamped in Early Espresso Ink. I used the Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker to write the "Wildflower Seed Paper" description on the envelope - that marker is available in the Neutrals Marker Assortment.

Stampin' Supplies: May 2019 Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit, Petal Pink Cardstock & Ink Pad, NEW Terracotta Tile Cardstock & Ink Pad, Stampin' Trimmer, Simply Shammy, Grid Paper, Paper Snips.

NEXT UP: Charlet Mallett!

Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Make New Friends but Keep the Old

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Make New Friends but Keep the Old! Posts may feature products that will be RETIRING from our catalogs on June 3, 2019...or products debuting in our NEW Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog on June 4th...or a little of both, which is what I'm doing!!!

For the Old part, the project I am featuring below uses the Foxy Friends Photopolymer Stamp Set again. There is a Fox Builder Punch that coordinates with this set, although I didn't use it on this card. The greetings are from another set that will be leaving, called Jar of Love, and the shapes/layers were cut out with the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

Stampin' Supplies for OLD Card: Foxy Friends stamp set (RETIRING), coordinating Fox Builder Punch (not used on this card but also RETIRING), Jar of Love stamp set (RETIRING), Everyday Jars Framelits (RETIRING), Cajun Craze ink pad, StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock (for card base), Very Vanilla Cardstock (for stamped fox and greetings), Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder (RETIRING), Big Shot (RETIRING), Cajun Craze Cardstock, Very Vanilla Medium Twine (RETIRING), Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (for cutting & scoring), Simply Shammy (to clean photopolymer stamps).

For the New part, I am featuring the upcoming Wildly Happy stamp set, in an upcoming 2019-2021 In Color called Terracotta Tile, as well as the upcoming Stitched Nested Labels Dies, Button Button Embossing Folder, and Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim.

Stampin' Supplies for NEW Card: Wildly Happy stamp set*, Terracotta Tile Cardstock and ink pad*, Smoky Slate ink pad, StazOn Jet Black ink pad, Blender Pens, Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock (for card base), Very Vanilla Cardstock (for stamped fox and greetings), Button Button Embossing Folder*, Stitched Nested Labels Dies*, Big Shot (RETIRING), Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim*, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (for cutting & scoring), Stampin' Scrub & Stampin' Mist (to clean red rubber stamps). {*Note: upcoming products will not be listed in the Product Purchase Links below}

You will find several files just above the Next button on my post today, which will provide you with lists of the RETIRING product in both PDF and Excel formats. You can also find the RETIRING products in the Last-Chance Products section of My Online Store...however, just a word of warning, the product(s) will not show up online if they are SOLD OUT.

Another tip on the RETIRING products, is that the stamp sets are guaranteed to be available for order through May 24th, since Stampin' Up! manufactures those themselves. However, all other products are while supplies last!!! I am urging you to SHOP NOW to make sure you get the stamp sets you want before they are gone.

As I said, the Foxy Friends Stamp Set, the Fox Builder Punch, the Jar of Love stamp set, and the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits are RETIRING. Another small note on RETIRING stamp sets...we will no longer be carrying wood-mount stamps starting June 4th, 2019. So, you may see some stamp sets listed as RETIRING on the lists, but check for an asterisk (*) to see if only the wood-mount version of the set is RETIRING. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Colour Combo Blog Hop - May 2019

Products listed in bold are available in My Online Store, please see the bottom of the post for a complete list of Product Purchase Links under the Blog Roll.
 DISCLAIMER: this is an International blog hop...I am in the United States, and I can only do business with those in my country, or those who have an APO/FPO address for shipping. So sorry for any inconvenience!

For my project this month, I'm going to have to go back to some #simplestamping (using just stamps, ink, and paper) because I've been sick for over a week now with an exhausting chest cold. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't turn into pneumonia...ain't nobody got time for that! I am featuring an upcoming stamp set called Free As A Bird that you'll see in the Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog debuts on June 4th.

Now, you can argue with me and say my project isn't #simplestamping because I used Blender Pens on it, but you will lose that argument. If fussy-cutting counts as #simplestamping, then dipping a clear marker in ink and coloring with it sure as heck counts! Seriously, fussy-cutting is an 'F' word in my craft room. But I did it for this project because that's the look I wanted. I wonder how much I would need to win in the lottery to commission a set of dies from Stampin' Up! for this stamp set?

Oh - and here's another juicy tidbit about me...I hate Blackberry Bliss. So, in a way, it's great to participate in color challenges with it, because otherwise I'd likely never use the supplies I bought in that color! Speaking of colors, you might be wondering how I got the green leaves on the branch. Yep, those leaves are GREEN, and I didn't even cheat. I found out that Balmy Blue mixed with Mango Melody gives me a passable green. Again, if I had not restricted myself to the colors of the challenge, I never would have known that. I love this blog hop! 💖

Stampin' Supplies: Free As A Bird stamp set, Whisper White Cardstock, Balmy Blue Cardstock & Ink, Mango Melody Cardstock & Ink, Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad, Blender Pens, Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips (to cut slits into flowers to bend them up), Paper Trimmer (to cut and score card stock), Stampin' Scrub & Mist (to clean stamps), Grid Paper.
