Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Two Years!

Welcome to the August 2018 Extraordinary Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, celebrating TWO Years! You'll see projects from stampers from around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, but we're tossing in an extra hop to celebrate our SECOND birthday. My celebration project features a few products from the Animal Expedition Suite.
(see specific Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll)

That picture up above is what the card looks like when it's closed. The little Mini Binder Clip on the side helps hold it shut. The giraffe in the Animal Outing Stamp Set doesn't really have a long neck, I carefully inked up only the longer neck part and aligned the sections together to get the look I wanted.

And that next picture up above is what the card looks like when it's open. I just slid the Mini Binder Clip up a little bit to release the folded layer. The idea was to give the card the feel of a growth chart. What do you think...did it work? ;-)

Above is a close up of the top panel of the card, you can see some leaves stamped in the background behind the wooden Frames Elements pieces. That particular stamp in the Animal Outing Stamp Set is an image with a frog sitting on some branches. I just omitted the frog part, so I could stamp the branch parts alone. You can see a bit of the coordinating Leaf Ribbon that I used, coming down the side of the card. I adhered both the wooden pieces and the ribbon, with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I'll be honest with you...I made this card a long time ago, like way back in April. I'm not feeling super fantastic so I decided to use this card that was already finished, so I can take it easy and get more rest. That's why this card has a birthday greeting on it from a retired stamp set, called Ready to Pop! That's okay, you can spell it out yourself with the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set, or try the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. That's a great go-to set for practically ANY occasion.

Stampin' Supplies: Animal Outing stamp set (available in either wood-mount or cling-mount), Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Ready to Pop stamp set (retired - consider subbing Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set), Soft Suede cardstock & ink pad, Sahara Sand cardstock & ink pad, Call Me Clover ink pad, Leaf Ribbon, Mini Binder Clips, Frames Elements, Tombow Liquid Adhesive, SNAIL Adhesive, Paper Snips, Paper Trimmer (for cutting & scoring). (see Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll)

If you are in the US and you want to get a hard copy of the UPCOMING Stampin' Up! 2018 HOLIDAY Catalog, drop me an email with your mailing address, and we can get that coordinated!

We Create Celebrations Blog Hop

Welcome to the July 2018 We Create Celebrations Blog Hop!!! My cards for the hop feature the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set from the NEW catalog, as well as the Better Together stamp set which was carried over from last year's catalog. I'm also featuring one of the NEW 2018-2020 In Colors: Blueberry Bushel.

I really like this design because, 1) it's BLUE and I love blue, 2) it feels pretty gender neutral to me, and 3) it's quick and easy to create in multiples so you can have a good bunch on hand.

I bought the Better Together stamp set in wood-mount, but if you get that set in clear-mount, you can use the Stamparatus to make multiples of this design even faster. First, you'd want to stamp the Birthday Backgrounds streamer image repeatedly on the Sahara Sand layer with the VersaMark ink pad to prep a handful of them first. Then you'd use the Stamparatus to position the Better Together images, ink them up, and stamp a batch in a snap!

For the second card, I used the same design, but the bow and shiny sequins give it a slightly more feminine look. FYI: If you're making this design to have a good number of cards on hand, you will be limited by the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins, because there are 50 of the Sahara Sand color in the package (used on the top card with the knot), and another 50 of the Sea Foam color (used on the second card with the bow). You could always opt for the Clear Rhinestone Jewels instead--they are also adhesive backed, but there are 140 of the same color in one package. They are a little more blingy, though, and it's your call whether you think that still keeps the card as gender neutral as you might like.

You could also switch out the Blueberry Bushel for some of the other 2018-2020 In Colors, since the coordinating 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon is available in all 5 colors. I personally don't feel that the Pineapple Punch provides enough contrast when stamped directly on the Sahara Sand background, but I think the other colors would be fine. Here are a few small samples, you can judge the contrast for yourself!

Stampin' Supplies (for top two cards): Birthday Backgrounds stamp set, Better Together stamp set, Sahara Sand Cardstock, Blueberry Bushel Cardstock, Blueberry Bushel ink pad, VersaMark ink pad, Blueberry Bushel 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins, Blender Pens, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut & score card stock), Stamparatus (to make multiples).

Stampin' Supplies (for alternate color cards): Birthday Backgrounds stamp set, Better Together stamp set, Sahara Sand Cardstock, Call Me Clover Cardstock and ink pad, Lovely Lipstick Cardstock and ink pad, Grapefruit Grove Cardstock and ink pad, Pineapple Punch Cardstock and ink pad, VersaMark ink pad, In Color 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (in Call Me Clover, Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, and Pineapple Punch), Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut & score card stock).

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - May Good Things Grow

This month is our 12th #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Our kit this month is called May Good Things Grow. It came with supplies to make 8 cards, 4 each of 2 designs, with some fancy top-flap string closure coordinating floral envelopes. The picture below shows how the cards would look if you made them according to the kit instructions:

As usual, I tried to stick closely to the Paper Pumpkin kit supplies, though I chose to add some Crumb Cake Card Stock, Powder Pink Card Stock, and a wee bit of the Myths & Magic Washi Tape  and some 2" x 8" Cello Bags for some of the items inside the box (though you might have different contents in mind, so you may not need those). Everything else, including the adhesives, came from the kit! I made a box for a birthday gift, as well as a Mother's Day card.

Oh, and just a note on the plastic test tube I used for the bath salts inside the package...those actually came from a Paper Pumpkin kit from a long time ago. But right now, you can actually still get SIXTEEN of them in either the Paper Pumpkin September 2016 Good to Eat FULL KIT or the REFILL KIT (includes consumables only), if you are registered as a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber.

I'm really not the "vintage" stamping type, but this kit made it SUPER easy! For my card, I assembled one of the string closure envelopes according to the kit directions, but I made my own card base to fit inside. And my card has a little treat in it--a packet of my favorite Tulsi Sweet Rose Tea!

The May Good Things Grow Refill Kit can now be purchased the on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store. There are sometimes full Kits available on that page, but many are just Refill Kits which include the consumables only...meaning everything but the stamp set & ink pad. By the way, you're gonna have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to buy whatever's available on that PAST KITS page, so go ahead and sign up HERE to get your email address in the system first!

Stampin' Supplies: May Good Things Grow Paper Pumpkin Kit, Crumb Cake card stock, Powder Pink card stock, Myths & Magic Washi Tape, 2" x 8" Cello Bags (for some of the packaging inside the box), Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (for trimming and scoring).

Foxy Birthday Greetings

Thankful Forest Friends stamp set with Age Awareness stamp set greeting. Photo © Stampin' Up!

So...I totally was NOT going to buy the Thankful Forest Friends stamp set (available as shown, in Clear-Mount, and also in Wood-Mount), even though I thought the animals were super cute. I just didn't see using them with the greetings in that same stamp set enough this Fall to justify it. Leave it to Stampin' Up! to change my mind! You'd think that I'd have realized I can use the animals separately, after all, I have been doing this for over 21 years now. And I thought I'd better share this, because if I wasn't thinking outside of the [stamp set] box, to imagine such an adorable birthday card, maybe you weren't either!

Stampin' Supplies: (this is speculation since I didn't make this card) Thankful Forest Friends stamp set, Age Awareness stamp set, Mint Macaron card stock, Whisper White card stock, Tangerine Tango ink and card stock, Night of Navy ink and card stock, Versamark (or Mint Macaron) ink pad for animals in background, Everyday Chic Designer Washi Tape, Tangerine Tango Baker's Twine (retired - maybe sub Basic Gray Baker's Twine, or Silver Metallic Thread.

Are you giving this stamp set a second thought, too??
Go ahead, get it in my ONLINE STORE today!

Cupcake Party Birthday Card

No, I'm not even near caught up yet, but I wanted to post this card because I remembered to take a picture of it before I sent it off to my daughter for her belated 20th! We love cupcakes, but have never found a cupcake shop with yummy tasting ones that are also organic, with no soy or other ickies. So, we always make our own--but shipping them and having them arrive intact is pretty out of the question. Sending a cupcake card in the mail is the next best thing, right??

Hey, where did I get that little scalloped pennant punch? Actually, I used the bottom part of the cupcake from the Cupcake Builder Punch. I cut from the notch of the first scallop on each side, to the pointy corner closest to it. (see illustration below) Super quick and simple, and you can make the card with the same punch that coordinates with the stamp set. Sweeeeeeeeet.

Oh, and just a bit of procrastistamper trivia: I signed up to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator exactly 7 days before my daughter was born...which means I also celebrated a 20th recently ;-)
