NEW Photopolymer Stamp Sets: Countless Sayings 1 & 2

Before I say anything else, I would urge you to purchase any of Stampin' Up!'s Photopolymer Stamp Sets that you like, as soon as you see them. You will be doing yourself a big favor, as two of the photopolymer sets have already sold out and are no longer in production. One of them was only available for several weeks! With that disclaimer out of the way, let me introduce you to Countless Sayings 1 and Countless Sayings 2...first some adorable simple samples, and then more info on each individual set:

These fun samples were stamped on Whisper White card stock, which you can buy already cut and scored to card size as Whisper White Cut & Ready Card Bases. Be sure to stamp outline images with the StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, to avoid smearing. Instead of colored markers, you may want to purchase all the following ink pads, and use Blender Pens to color your images with ink from the ink pad. That way you get more bang for your buck! To recreate these cards in the colors shown, you'll want to get the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad, Calypso Coral Classic Stampin' Pad, Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin' Pad, Pink Pirouette Classic Stampin' Pad, Pistachio Pudding Classic Stampin' Pad, and the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad.

Countless Sayings 1 Photopolymer Stamp Set includes 17 separate stamps, and Clear Blocks blocks A, B, E, G, H, and I are recommended. Christmas Card Club 3: Endless Wishes Christmas Card

Just wanted to share my favorite card from our Christmas Card Club 3 class this weekend (that's 3 of 5 card classes I'm offering this season). This card was made with the NEW Endless Wishes Photopolymer stamp set. You get NINETEEN STAMPS in this set, and there are so many variations you can create with the greetings...which is why they called it Endless Wishes! [Note: this is a very popular new stamp set, so if you click that link above and you are not taken to the product page, the item is out of stock...please check back on or about November 6th.]

Instructions:
1) Cut Marina Mist card stock to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", then score to create 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card with fold on left.
2) Cut Whisper White card stock to 4" x 5-1/4".
3) Mount the following stamp images together on Clear Block C in orientation as shown on card: "very merry", "Christmas", "Wishes", "to you".
4) Ink up this combined stamp saying image in Marina Mist and stamp on Whisper White where shown. (this image gets stamped first, to ensure you leave enough room for it when stamping snowflakes)
5) Tap Embossing Buddy over stamped image, or dry ink with Stampin' Up! Heat Tool on setting 1 (to ensure no embossing powder sticks to it in later steps)
6) Ink largest snowflake image in VersaMark or White Craft ink and stamp multiple images on card as shown. Only stamp the large snowflake for this step. Stamp all large snowflakes onto card front before proceeding to next step.
7) Cover the large snowflake stamped images with embossing powder and shake off excess. Only the snowflake images should remain covered with powder. Brush off any excess powder that is NOT on a snowflake.
8) Holding the card carefully, so as not to wipe off any of the remaining embossing powder, melt the embossing powder on all the snowflakes, using the Stampin' Up! Heat Tool at setting 2. (careful...don't burn your fingers!)
9) After a few seconds, when the melted embossing powder has cooled, sponge over each of the embossed snowflakes in Marina Mist, using a Sponge Dauber. Sponge from the center of the snowflake, out to each end, always starting back in the center of the snowflake after adding more ink to the dauber. This keeps the darkest of the ink in the center of the snowflake.
10) Stamp the small snowflake in Marina Mist, where there is space between the large sponged snowflakes.
11) Wrap about 36" of Island Indigo Baker's Twine around the bottom of the Whisper White layer, and tie in a bow at front lower left, as shown.
12) Adhere the Whisper White layer to the front of the Marina Mist card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
13) Stamp some small snowflakes in Marina Mist, onto a coordinating Whisper White Medium Envelope.
14) Address your envelope, affix appropriate postage, and mail your card!

Divine™ Ghost Favor Picture Tutorial

I showed you this Divine™ Ghost Favor here in my previous post, and now I've got the pictures posted to walk you through making it yourself. To prepare, you'll need to cut out a shape with the Bigz Clear Oval Accent Die, in Whisper White card stock. Then, take a scrap piece of card stock and punch through it with the Owl Builder Punch. If you use Basic Black, be sure to keep track of the medium size circle punches from the Owl Punch--you can use those for ghost eyes!

The first step is to use the owl outline from the punched out piece of card stock as a template on the right side of the oval accent piece. Click the picture if you want to see it full-size, and check out how I've lined up a pointy piece from above one of the owl's punched out feet, to point right at the notch in the oval accent piece. While holding that point in place, rotate the owl punchout so the curve of the owl's ear point matches the curve of the top of the oval. Once in place, trace this line lightly with pencil. (don't trace the feet, just the curve of the outline of the owl)

You will then slide the owl template over to the left top part of the oval accent piece, and trace in the same manner...it will be a mirror image of the line on the right side.

You will end up with markings on your oval, similar to the marks you see below. You'll want to make yours with light pencil lines so you can erase them. I went over mine in black pen, just to get a good photo.

Cut along the lines you made, making sure you cut through the tiny spots where your line skipped above the owl's feet. Erase any lines that did not get cut away, and you should have something similar to the shape below:

This next step is optional, and you may not need to do it after making this project once or twice, as you will readily "see" the angle after this illustration. In the picture below, I have laid a ruler from the corner of the notch on the lower right part of the oval accent, to the "head" of the ghost. As you can see, this marks a line roughly parallel to the side of the ghost's head. If you need to, you can take a pencil and lightly mark this line for reference. Then, find the same angle on the left side of the oval and mark it lightly.

Next, you will see how to line that score mark up with the groove of the Stampin' Trimmer. (again, I made my marks in pen so you could see them on the photos) Make sure the head of the ghost is to the side of that groove at the top, and the notch of the oval is exactly in the middle of that groove at the bottom. Click on this picture if you need to see it full-size, to see the groove clearly. Lay down the guide of the Stampin' Trimmer, and, using the scoring blade, create a score line. Then, turn the ghost 180 degrees and do the same angle on the other side.

You will then want to add another score line about 1/4" to the outside of each score line you just made. This will give a little depth to the piece, to help it wrap around the chocolate inside. I simply lined up each of the first score lines I made (which you can see marked in black below) with the outside edge of the brown-grey plastic near the groove of the Stampin' Trimmer. Then, turn the ghost 180 degrees and do the same on the other side. If this method freaks you out, then measure and score 1/4" from the original score marks by lining up the original score marks across the 1/4" line on the Stampin' Trimmer. Either way, make sure the second score lines are farther away from the center on each side of the ghost than the first ones.

When you are finished scoring, you will be left with the piece you see below. All that's left to do is decorate it. Our NEW Bite Me photopolymer stamp set includes all the sayings and images you need, to duplicate my sample. Plus, you can see right through the photopolymer of the stamp to see *exactly* where your image is going!

A few tips on decorating:
- Make a few of these out of plain copy paper to get the feel of the cuts and angles, and to test out various designs first.
- Glue the eyes of the ghost on first. You only need one owl template, so you can stick narrow strips of black card stock into the Owl Builder Punch to punch out only the eyes for subsequent ghosts. You can also just draw on the eyes with a black marker if you aren't into glueing small pieces.
- Be careful with your stamped greeting at the bottom, make sure it fits without getting covered up by the ghost's draping "arms" when the piece is closed. Both the Happy Halloween and the Trick or Treat sayings from the Bite Me stamp set will fit perfectly across the bottom, as long as you stamp them as low as they will go across the piece.
- Keep your stamping on the inside of the ghost "arms" confined to the outer edges, where they will not show until the favor is opened.
- Sponging the inside and outside edges of the ghost helps the white-on-white features stand out.
- You don't have to include a closure piece across the front, but it's much easier to stack, store, and hand these out if they are kept closed.
- You can use a punch other than the Ticket Duo Punch for a front closure, if you desire. Remember to only glue down one side permanently, and use a temporary bond for the other side of the punched piece, if you want it to open without ripping.

Bigz Oval Accent Die Divine™ Ghost Favor

Remember that old deodorant commercial that boasted it was, "strong enough for a man, yet made for a woman"...? Today, I am sharing a special treat holder that I think is cute enough for a kid...

...yet made for a grownup!

I found this little treasure of an idea tucked away in last year's posts on the blog of a gal named Bernie Forlenzo. I am not sure if she is the original designer or not, but I could not find a way to "measure" the cut away part accurately. I got frustrated with my trial and error methods, and set out to figure a way I could make it goof-proof for YOU to duplicate at home. I'll update you with my picture tutorial in a day or two, but if you want to recreate it, you may want to run through and make sure you have these supplies on hand. And you might want to Subscribe to my Blog by Email so you can get notification when the tutorial is posted. You can substitute for images and colors, but the key elements this pattern requires are the Bigz Clear Oval Accent Die, and the Owl Builder Punch.

If you don't have the supplies you'll need, that's okay, you can grab them in my ONLINE STORE. Just enter the item number that's listed next to any item, in the Search field near the top left of my store: the Bigz Clear Oval Accent Die 127005 (to use with your Big Shot 113439), the Owl Builder Punch 118074 (that's the secret to my template, and I also used it for the eyes!), and the Bite Me Photopolymer stamp set 134622 (and Clear Blocks to use with it-you'll find them under Stamps, then Stamp Accessories). You will also need a tool for scoring, my picture tutorial will demonstrate the Stampin' Trimmer 126889 for that. I used a StazOn Jet Black ink pad 101406, a Pumpkin Pie ink pad 126945, and also a Basic Gray ink pad 126981 with a Stampin' Sponge 101610 to highlight the edges. The 'Boo!' tag that holds the ghost closed was made with the Ticket Duo Punch 126883, and Wisteria Wonder card stock 122922. I glued one side of the tag firmly with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive 110755, and put a tiny dab of the same on the other side of the back of the ticket, and let that DRY before touching it to anything. That created a temporary bond strong enough to hold the ghost closed, but not so much that it will rip the paper when it comes undone. You can do the same on the inside of the ghost, for easy removal of the chocolate piece.

The main reason these Ghost Favors are made for grownups, is the Divine Mini Dark Chocolate inside! I do have to mention that I received some Mini Dark Chocolate Pieces for free from Divine, which is what I used for this project. However, my love of Divine chocolates and my desire to use them in my projects came before I received anything free, and I am receiving no other compensation than a few different samples to design some favors around :-)

Gotta Have It: Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set

Seriously, I ordered mine last Thursday as soon as it became available, and my order just shipped out this morning :-) If you've been wanting to try out Stampin' Up!'s photopolymer stamps, but previous offerings haven't suited your taste, you are in luck with the NEW Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set!

There are 10 images in the set, which I will detail following the picture below. The cards in the picture above are standard size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") cards, so that should give you an excellent idea of the size of each image. These images are completely clear--the black you see showing through the stamps in the picture above is the printing on the index sheet which is included for storing the stamps. The index sheet, with all the stamps on it, comes in a plastic envelope. But there's no reason to mess with trying to pull the set out and put it back in that little close-fitting cello bag, when it fits so neatly into one of Stampin' Up!'s Clear-Mount Stamp Cases.

The following Stampin' Up! Clear-Mount Block sizes are recommended: A, B, C, D, and F. Another NEW Photopolymer Stamp Set: Bombs Away Birthday

Yes, Stampin' Up! has done it AGAIN! Thanks to the warm welcome for our previous photopolymer stamp set, we now have another one: Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer Stamp Set. There are 7 quirky and amusing images for only $13.95. Clear Block C and Clear Block H are recommended for use with this stamp set.

Here's a refresher on the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set that came out last month in case you've missed it in all the hubbub. It includes a whopping 57 pieces, and it is recommended to use Clear Block A, Clear Block B, Clear Block G, Clear Block F, and Clear Block I with it. (If you want to just get the entire Clear Block Bundle so you'll have them on hand, the price of that Bundle reflects a 15% Savings!) There are some cool tricks you can do with this stamp set, because the photopolymer is pliable. You can can bend the stamps so that images will stamp in an arc, for instance, the arrow, the banner, or the pennants! I'll post a video soon showing these and more tricks, and tips.
