Definitely for Dudes: Number One Stand Up Card

This project in my Definitely for Dudes series will be the last project with items from the Retiring List, which ends TONIGHT, May 31st, at 11:50pm MT. Get over to my Online Store right NOW if you're wanting to grab any of it before it's GONE!

This project is what I call a Stand Up Card...both pictures are of the same project, I'm just showing you the view of each side. The center section actually slides back into the base and it folds flat to fit in a standard sized envelope.

This project features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount, as well as the Urban District stamp set, also available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Urban Underground Embellishments I used on this card are sold out. However, these two stamp sets are keepers, and as of right now, the clear-mount version of each set is ON SALE...but they are also LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get them before it's too late. Same goes for the Delightful Dijon ink pad, Delightful Dijon card stock, and Delightful Dijon Striped Ribbon I used on this card. And if you don't have it yet, you really should grab the Decorative Label Punch before it's gone--it's a total keeper.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Dapper Denim card stock, Dapper Denim ink pad, Basic Gray card stock, Linen Thread, and Very Vanilla card stock.

LAST CHANCE to get retiring favorites before they're gone!

Definitely for Dudes: Father's Day Toolbox

Today I have a 3-D Toolbox for you, in my Definitely for Dudes series. It opens like the picture below for display, and it will close up with all the tools inside. Again, some of the supplies are sold out now, and others are on the Retiring List, and they will be sold ONLY thru May 31st (while supplies last)!!! Head over to my Online Store and grab what you can!

This project is based on a template I created a LONG time ago. It just happened to fit everything perfectly...it was meant to be! This project probably deserves a video, but I know I won't be able to get to it for a few days, at least, so I'm going to put the link to the old post with the template, and give you several pictures from different angles, in case you want to give it a go before then. My template for the mailbox/chest can be found HERE.

The view above shows the handle, which is made with the Classic Label Punch, which was scored in a few places, stamped with the little screw top image on each end, and adhered.

The view above shows the tools lying in the toolbox as you open up the top.

The view above shows the strip of Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive used to keep the box closed, or to keep it open in display position. You simply lay down a line and let it dry, and it is sticky enough to hold the lid closed, but not sticky enough to leave residue or tear the card stock.

The view above shows the back of the hexagon. You can see there is kind of a loop of card stock, inside which the tools are tucked. The tools are just in there by gravity and tension, they float freely so you can arrange them in line to close the box, or pull them out and separate them out for display. The lid, when the box is open for display, sticks to that tab you see above the hexagon--that's what holds the lid in place for display.

This card features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut some of the pieces are sold out. But, they aren't that difficult to just trim around, and you can still grab the clear-mount version of the stamp set ON SALE...but it is LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get it before it's too late. Unfortunately, the little silver screw heads I used from the Urban District Embellishments on the project are already sold out.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Real Red card stock, Basic Gray card stock, Crumb Cake card stock, Silver Foil Sheets, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Classic Label Punch (handle on top), Watercolor Pencils (used with Blender Pens).

What Father's Day gifts do you have in your toolbox??

Definitely for Dudes: Hanging Tools Card

I have several cards and projects geared for guys, which I plan to present in a little series called Definitely for Dudes! I actually made these last November for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator event--well, a little bit before November--and some of the supplies are sold out now. However, the Retiring STAMP SETS are still guaranteed available through TODAY, and then they will be sold ONLY while supplies last. So, I wanted to pop them up on your radar.

This project features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut out the tools are sold out, and so are the Urban Underground Embellishments (the silver stars), but I really feel that the set itself is still worth grabbing. You might want to get a handful of the Delightful Dijon card stock, and maybe a Delightful Dijon ink pad before they're sold out, as they work really well with the Nailed It stamp set.

Are you having a handmade Father's Day??
Let me know if I can help you design your projects :-)

Farewell Party: Shirt & Tie Card

This is one of the cards we made at my Farewell Party today...it's the same design as a card you've seen me make before (video tutorial HERE), but there's a new twist. Instead of an origami necktie, I imported an SVG necktie stamp from the digital download Oh Joy, A Boy! Ensemble into my ecutter software and it did all the hard work for me!

This card features several retiring items which are STILL available, some of them at a discount, but you should act fast before they are sold out. I used the Alhambra Jumbo Wheel for the pattern on the shirt. You'll need the Jumbo Handle to use this wheel, if you don't already have it. I used the Midnight Muse ink pad to ink the wheel. Unfortunately, the Midnight Muse card stock I used for the necktie is sold out. But, if you were to get the 2012-14 In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper digital download, you would have several lovely Midnight Muse patterns to choose from, to print out and cut into shape! And, you would never run out of paper, because you could just print more whenever you need it :-)

On the inside of the card, I used the You're Amazing stamp set--which is also retiring and still available, but only in wood-mount. It IS on SALE, though, so snag it while you still have a shot at it! With its vintage, neutral look, it's great for masculine cards. Speaking of neutral, I used Sahara Sand card stock for the card base, and that item is NOT retiring.

Happy Father's Day 2013!

I hope you'll forgive me for not posting the Washi Tape Tutorial I had planned for today--I shifted gears and made a homemade apple pie for my sweetie, who has his own 4 kids, and has also taken on the role of Father for my two :-) Happy Father's Day, Blake...I love you :-D

Yep, that's fer realz, I made it from scratch, all by my lonesome...nom nom nom.

Father's Day Shirt & Tie Card Tutorial Video

You may recognize this card from my recent 8 Great Cards Class...

I have created a quick video tutorial for you, including the origami tie. If you are viewing this blog post in email, you will need to click on the blog post title above, which should take you to my blog in your browser, where you can view the video :-)

In the video, I referenced a .gif I followed for the origami folding. The instructions are in Japanese, but all you really need are the pictures, anyway. You can find that file HERE.

UPDATE: several readers using AOL and/or Internet Explorer have indicated that they cannot view the above link to the .gif for the origami instruction sheet. If you have any problems, please try Firefox--and let me know if that still does not work for you.
