Third Thursdays Blog Hop - My New Faves

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is My New Faves! We are featuring our favorite NEW items from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog that debuted May 3rd! I am sharing the He's the Man Suite Collection.
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

The He's the Man Designer Series Paper in the Suite contains two 12x12 sheets of die cuts, so I separated those out, and came up with pieces to make 15 cards. I used the He's All That Stamp Set, the All That Dies, the DSP, the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots, and I added Crumb Cake Cardstock, and the Early Espresso Ink Pad. I shared a pretty long video about this whole Suite, as well as my process in coming up with these cards. You can click on the image below to watch that.

Stampin' Supplies: He's the Man Suite Collection, Crumb Cake Cardstock, Early Espresso Ink Pad, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Seal, Paper Snips, Paper Trimmer, Grid Paper, Bone Folder, Stampin' Scrub & Stampin' Mist (to clean red rubber stamps), Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (or you can use the Mini). And don't forget to grab some Very Vanilla Envelopes for mailing your cards!

We Create Masculine Blog Hop

Welcome to the June 2018 We Create Masculine Blog Hop!!! My cards for the hop feature the Waterfront stamp set, and all FIVE of the NEW 2018-2020 In Colors: Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, Blueberry Bushel, and Call Me Clover.

This card is just one layer of Watercolor Paper, on top of a foldover base of Blueberry Bushel Card Stock. I ran a wet AquaPainter over the whole front of the Watercolor Paper to prime it, then I dipped the AquaPainter into some drops of Blueberry Bushel Reinker and dragged the color across. I rinsed out the brush (by squeezing water through it and dabbing onto a paper towel), then dipped the AquaPainter into the next color and dragged it across, etc...always making sure the brush was clean before adding the next color.

After the background was dry, I dropped some ripples in the water using a stamp with the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad. I dropped in some trees using the Call Me Clover Ink Pad, stamping some full strength, and stamping others off once on my Grid Paper before stamping down on the card.

The greeting was stamped with the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad, using different parts of sayings from the All Things Thanks stamp set (available in wood-mount & clear-mount). I generally get the wood-mount sets, but I got this one in clear-mount so I could cut the sayings apart and mount different pieces together on one block.

In the picture below, you can see the sun image I stamped. For this one, I actually stamped it while the background was still slightly damp. I mixed some of the Lovely Lipstick Reinker, and some of the Grapefruit Grove Reinker, and applied that color to the sun stamp with the AquaPainter Then I stamped it down.

Here's just one more look at the whole card...oh, I wanted to mention that I mixed some colors on that mountain stamp, too. I mixed the Blueberry Bushel Reinker with a bit of the Lovely Lipstick Reinker, and applied the purple-ish color to the stamp with the AquaPainter. I tried to dab off some of the excess moisture before stamping, so I wouldn't lose too much of the definition of the stamp. You might have to play with this to get the feel of how wet you want it, without making a mess. I made a nasty mess on my first try! Let me know how YOU do ;-)

Stampin' Supplies: Waterfront stamp set, Watercolor Paper, Aquapainter, Blueberry Bushel card stock, Blueberry Bushel ink pad & Reinker, Call Me Clover ink pad & Reinker, Pineapple Punch ink pad & Reinker, Grapefruit Grove ink pad & Reinker, Lovely Lipstick ink pad & Reinker, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut & score card stock).

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Manly Moments

Welcome to our May 2018 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Our kit this month is called Manly Moments. It came with supplies to make 10 cards, 2 each of 5 designs, with coordinating envelopes included for each card. The stamp set features a Father's Day greeting, lots of masculine titles (son, husband, grandpa, nephew, brother, uncle, dad - even just 'friend'), and also includes Birthday, Anniversary, and Thank You greetings. Here are my alternates:

The picture below shows how the cards might look if you made them according to the kit instructions:

As usual, I tried to stick closely to the Paper Pumpkin kit supplies. For my alternate projects I added some ink around the tag of the card using a Stampin' Sponge, as well as sponging the trees at the bottom of the card. I also added a few Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the card, in Sea Foam color. Everything else I used on my projects came in the Paper Pumpkin kit! (The sequins will be available in the NEW Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, which debuts TOMORROW!!!)

To make my card, I added an extra score line 3" from the score line at the end of the wood print section of the card. To cover the pre-scored line on the card between the plaid section and white section of the card, I cut one of the stickers from the kit in half lengthwise.

To make the "boxalope", I scored 3/4" into each of three sides of the envelope (bottom and two sides), and then just opened it like a grocery bag. I tacked down the triangles folded under the bottom with SNAIL Adhesive, but you could use some of the Mini Glue Dots that came in the kit, if you wanted.

Stampin' Supplies: May 2018 Manly Moments Paper Pumpkin Kit, Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins in Sea Foam (Available June 1st), SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Sponge, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (for trimming and scoring).

The Manly Moments Kit REFILL is available right now the on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store. There are sometimes full Kits available on that page, but many are just Refill Kits which include the consumables only...meaning everything but the stamp set & ink pad. By the way, you're gonna have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to buy whatever's available on that PAST KITS page, so go ahead and sign up HERE to get your email address in the system first!

NEXT UP: Click the Next button below to see the MANLY projects Lori has in store for you! If you have any problems navigating the hop, there is also a Blog Roll listed below for your convenience.

Definitely for Dudes: Number One Stand Up Card

This project in my Definitely for Dudes series will be the last project with items from the Retiring List, which ends TONIGHT, May 31st, at 11:50pm MT. Get over to my Online Store right NOW if you're wanting to grab any of it before it's GONE!

This project is what I call a Stand Up Card...both pictures are of the same project, I'm just showing you the view of each side. The center section actually slides back into the base and it folds flat to fit in a standard sized envelope.

This project features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount, as well as the Urban District stamp set, also available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Urban Underground Embellishments I used on this card are sold out. However, these two stamp sets are keepers, and as of right now, the clear-mount version of each set is ON SALE...but they are also LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get them before it's too late. Same goes for the Delightful Dijon ink pad, Delightful Dijon card stock, and Delightful Dijon Striped Ribbon I used on this card. And if you don't have it yet, you really should grab the Decorative Label Punch before it's gone--it's a total keeper.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Dapper Denim card stock, Dapper Denim ink pad, Basic Gray card stock, Linen Thread, and Very Vanilla card stock.

LAST CHANCE to get retiring favorites before they're gone!

Definitely for Dudes: Father's Day Toolbox

Today I have a 3-D Toolbox for you, in my Definitely for Dudes series. It opens like the picture below for display, and it will close up with all the tools inside. Again, some of the supplies are sold out now, and others are on the Retiring List, and they will be sold ONLY thru May 31st (while supplies last)!!! Head over to my Online Store and grab what you can!

This project is based on a template I created a LONG time ago. It just happened to fit everything perfectly...it was meant to be! This project probably deserves a video, but I know I won't be able to get to it for a few days, at least, so I'm going to put the link to the old post with the template, and give you several pictures from different angles, in case you want to give it a go before then. My template for the mailbox/chest can be found HERE.

The view above shows the handle, which is made with the Classic Label Punch, which was scored in a few places, stamped with the little screw top image on each end, and adhered.

The view above shows the tools lying in the toolbox as you open up the top.

The view above shows the strip of Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive used to keep the box closed, or to keep it open in display position. You simply lay down a line and let it dry, and it is sticky enough to hold the lid closed, but not sticky enough to leave residue or tear the card stock.

The view above shows the back of the hexagon. You can see there is kind of a loop of card stock, inside which the tools are tucked. The tools are just in there by gravity and tension, they float freely so you can arrange them in line to close the box, or pull them out and separate them out for display. The lid, when the box is open for display, sticks to that tab you see above the hexagon--that's what holds the lid in place for display.

This card features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut some of the pieces are sold out. But, they aren't that difficult to just trim around, and you can still grab the clear-mount version of the stamp set ON SALE...but it is LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get it before it's too late. Unfortunately, the little silver screw heads I used from the Urban District Embellishments on the project are already sold out.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Real Red card stock, Basic Gray card stock, Crumb Cake card stock, Silver Foil Sheets, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Classic Label Punch (handle on top), Watercolor Pencils (used with Blender Pens).

What Father's Day gifts do you have in your toolbox??
