Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Back to School

Welcome to the AUGUST 2022 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Back to School! For my project I am featuring the Bottled Happiness BUNDLE, along with a little personalization using the Alphabest Stamp Set. {you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}

I kind of made this card up as I went along, so if I did it over again, I'd probably extend the Smokey Slate Cardstock across the whole front of the card. But since I had already adhered the sentiment on the front of the little flap at the left, and even adhered another piece to the back to give it a little more weight, I didn't want to take it apart. I adhered it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, though, so I could have carefully warmed it up with my Heat Tool and gently pulled it away - just remember that trick if you make a boo boo. This trick works with our Stampin' Seal adhesive, too. Oh, and don't strain your eyes trying to read the labels on those two tall, skinny bottles I punched out with the Vintage Bottle Punch. I just scribbled some lines on those labels using my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Don't go getting the wrong idea about the inside of this card...I'm not suggesting teachers go to work drunk. It's just that my kids are wayyyyy out of school, so this is where my mind went with this month's theme! The Alphabest Stamp Set comes in a BUNDLE with a cute little tag sort of punch that each of the letters or symbols will fit into, but I only used the stamp set for this project. I put the solid "tag" image and the "outline" tag image on a block next to each other, and stamped them using the Soft Seafoam Ink Pad, onto the Soft Seafoam Cardstock of the card base, to look like a brick wall.

I did a little creative layering using Stampin' Dimensionals with the bottles, so the side of the chonky bottle to the left would hold down the flap, and the bottom corner of the skinny bottle all the way to the right would hold down the greeting. That way, the card stays closed until you're ready to spring the surprise! I think you might be able to see best on this last picture, where I dipped one of my Blender Pens in some ink I got from the lid of my Basic Gray Ink Pad, and dragged it along the top of the Smokey Slate Cardstock, so it would give it a bit of a shadow for some depth. And, you can see how I used the "Rock-n-Roll" technique to ink up the chonky bottle...I first inked up the image on my Balmy Blue Ink Pad, then stamped OFF once, then sort of rolled the outside edges of the bottle image onto the ink pad, and finally I stamped that on my Basic White Cardstock. That left the center part of the image lighter than the outline, and helped the greeting to stand out more.

  1. Great card and sweet that you have a gift card in there! Having been a teacher, I know many who enjoy a beverage on the weekends...maybe even each evening to wind down.
