We Create Blog Hop: Sale-a-Bration Coordination

Welcome to the AUGUST 2022 "Sale-a-Bration Coordination" Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month the focus will be projects that reflect or reference the coordination with Stampin' Up!'s 2022 July-Aug Sale-a-Bration products!. This will probably be a longer post than usual, because I want to share a few things with you that made my supplies easier to use. First, I want to mention that wood is the traditional gift theme for the 5th wedding anniversary in the United States. And, while you can cut the tree rings with the dies in different colors of cardstock, I chose instead to make all the rings using Crumb Cake Cardstock, and then I used a Blending Brush with my Soft Suede Ink Pad to give the outer ring the bark color.

I love this patterned sheet from the Sale-a-Bration Rings of Love Designer Series Paper. There are so many great patterns in this package, but Orchid Oasis is my current favorite color, so that's probably why I love this one the most. I stamped three hearts from the Ringed with Nature Stamp Set using my Orchid Oasis Ink Pad, to bring in the anniversary theme a little more. And I'm not sure you can see it in this picture, but I tried to capture the glimmer from the Clear Wink of Stella I brushed over the hearts. I added three of the translucent/white embellishments from the Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins near the greeting to add to the sparkly effect. I used my VersaMark Ink Pad to stamp the greeting, then used the white powder from the Basics Embossing Powder set, and melted that with the Heat Tool.

On the inside of the Orchid Oasis Cardstock card base, I stamped this sweet greeting using the Orchid Oasis Ink Pad. I thought it was a nice touch...although it's more of a signature line than a greeting.

The picture above shows how I like to mark my dies when I get them. I take an ultra fine Sharpie marker and draw around each die, so I will know where to put them back, and I can also see at a glance if I am missing any. If you use magnetic sheets, you could try using a white marker or pen to make these outlines. If you recycle your magnetic sheets for die sets, you'll want to look for some kind of marker or pen that can be wiped off with alcohol or something. I just like to keep mine in the original packaging, so the Sharpie marker works for me. Note: if you trace over places where there is adhesive on the die card, be sure you allow more time for that to dry before you start moving your dies off the card, so you don't smear the outline there.

I also wanted to show you how the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder & Dies work. In the picture above, you can see I have the embossing folder open, and there is one big die with 5 ring outlines on it. You can run the embossing folder through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with this big die in it so that it will cut out the rings at the same time it embosses them. I discovered you can also run the inner ring dies through the embossing folder at the same time, however, it was really hard for me to see where the dies fit. I was thinking it would just be faster to cut the inner rings after embossing, and then I decided to mark where they went. I used a silver paint pen and colored in the space where the inner dies fit. You can see the paint pen rings in the pic above, and you can also see one of the inner ring dies in place.

I still had ONE more problem, though. The inner ring dies kept slipping out of place as I was moving the embossing folder over to the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. So, I took some of my Multipurpose Liquid Glue and dabbed a very light line around the flat side of each of the inner ring dies, and made sure to let the glue dry completely. Now when I put the dies in place inside the embossing folder, they stay put! It sure makes everything go much faster.
