Third Thurdays Blog Hop - Ornate Colors Mix & Match

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Ornate Colors Mix & Match! Our posts will feature projects with a Spring theme.
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

The idea behind this theme was to provide several timely options each stamper could choose from to feature on their post. The candidates are 1) projects with words of encouragement or appreciation, 2) projects that feature our 2018-2020 In Colors which are soon to RETIRE from our product line, and/or 3) projects that feature items from our Early Release Ornate Garden Suite of products. My project features a little element of each of these options!

I chose to use the Ornate Thanks Photopolymer Stamp Set, which comes from the NEW Ornate Garden Suite of products, with a RETIRING In Color (Blueberry Bushel), to create a card of appreciation. I love how well Blueberry Bushel works with Seaside Spray...and if you do, too, you'll want to be sure you grab all the Blueberry Bushel colored products as soon as you can. Our RETIRING LIST comes out April 22nd, and the retiring In Color products are usually the first to be sold out - especially the Ink Refills. Don't say I didn't warn you!

The Stitched Be Mine Dies have several great designs, but the small scalloped heart in that assortment fits the word 'heart' from the greeting I used, just perfectly! And the blue sparkly Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel adds a spot of bling to the card. The die cut scalloped heart was highlighted around the edges by dabbing a Sponge Dauber onto the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad, then dabbing the inked sponge around the edges of the heart. This gives the scallops more definition, and also sets the heart off just a little bit more from the Seaside Spray Cardstock. The heart was popped up off the previous layer using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

The flowers in the background are another image from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. I cut out 14 of them out of Blueberry Bushel Cardstock and arranged them all along the Seaside Spray Cardstock layer, then adhered them one by one and trimmed off the extra overhanging bits before mounting that layer onto a Blueberry Bushel Cardstock base. To adhere the flowers, I turned them over onto a Silicone Craft Sheet, then squirted just a bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue up in the corner of the sheet, dabbed a clean Sponge Dauber into the glue, then dabbed that glue onto the back of the flower die cut. I wanted to show you some pictures, but I was fighting my CAT the entire way through making this card and getting it photographed, so there was just no way! 😹

And finally, to give the greeting some softness around the edges, I added a piece of Vellum Cardstock under the greeting, going all the way across the card. That way, it adds some "almost" white space, so the background doesn't compete so much for attention with the greeting. The piece of Seaside Spray Cardstock onto which the greeting was stamped (with the Blueberry Bushel Ink Pad) is one whole piece of cardstock. I used my Paper Snips to cut into the side of it to add a "tail" before the Thank You, then snipped into the cardstock more, under the Thank You, just enough to add another smaller "tail" before the smaller words in the greeting. That's my lazy way of layering.
