Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Twisted

Welcome to the April 2020 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects from around the world--but I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Twisted! The idea is to show a "twist" on a stamp set, technique, project, etc. My project today features some coordinating products coming mostly from the Tropical Oasis Suite in the 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog!
{you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post!}

This is another sample designed by a fellow stamper, which I made at a shoebox swap. I often change around the design a little bit when I assemble a shoebox swap card, but I think I pretty much left this one like the original, because I thought it was just perfect! I didn't purchase any of the items in the Tropical Oasis Suite, because I'm more a mountain girl than a beachy chick, but it was fabulous having the chance to get my hands on the products.

The "twisted" part of my project is actually "untwisted". This piece of 5/16" Braided Burlap Trim is untwisted at the end, and that's one of the parts of the card I love the most. I probably never would have done this without seeing it on the sample, which is another reason I love shoebox swaps - you learn so many simple tips and tricks like this! The trim is held in position with Tear & Tape Adhesive.

The 'hello' greeting comes from the Timeless Tropical Cling-Mount Stamp Set, and the bronze flower comes from the Tropical Oasis Trinkets. It is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. You'll probably want to grab the Layering Circles Dies to cut out the 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" circles for the greeting and the background layer for the greeting.

The trees come from the coordinating In The Tropics Dies, and after cutting them out, they were run through the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to give them that amazing texture. The new Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder was used on the background layer of the card, for even more texture. The edges of both the trees, as well as the background layer, have been sponged using the Soft Suede Ink Pad and a Stampin' Sponge, providing an extra bit of depth.

Here's a closer look at the whole card again. All the elements of the suite work so beautifully together. Even if I got nothing else in the Tropical Oasis Suite, I would like to get some of that 5/16" Braided Burlap Trim - and probably also the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder - because they would go well with so much of the supplies I already do have.

Stampin' Supplies: Timeless Tropical Cling-Mount Stamp Set, Very Vanilla Cardstock, Pretty Peacock Cardstock, Crumb Cake Cardstock, Soft Suede Cardstock & Ink Pad, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, 5/16" Braided Burlap Trim, Tropical Oasis Trinkets, Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder, Layering Circles Dies, In the Tropics Dies, Stampin' Sponges, Tear & Tape Adhesive, SNAIL Adhesive or Tombow Liquid Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Paper Snips, Grid Paper, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut and score cardstock), Stampin' Scrub & Stampin' Mist (to clean red rubber stamps), Very Vanilla Medium Envelope (for mailing!). {Note: you'll want a die-cutting/embossing machine to use with the Dies and Embossing Folders}
