Pieces & Patterns - July Step It Up Blog Hop

Welcome to the July 2017 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. My project this month features the NEW Pieces & Patterns stamp set (available in wood-mount or clear-mount).

This stamp set is part of the Pick A Pattern Suite in the 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, with cool coordinating products, including the Pick A Pattern Designer Series Paper, Pick A Pattern Washi Tape, and the Eclectic Shaped Paper Clips. It also coordinates with several spools of Baker's Twine: Basic Black Solid, Basic Black Striped, Crushed Curry Solid, Flirty Flamingo Striped, and of course, Whisper White Solid. I love Baker's Twine because it adds the look of ribbon, very inexpensively, and without the bulk.

Stampin' Supplies: Pieces & Patterns stamp set, Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper, Sahara Sand card stock, Whisper White card stock, Basic Black Archival Ink (I actually used Memento Tuxedo Black ink on this card, but either works), Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive.

On my "stepped up" version, I added a layer of Designer Series Paper with a black pattern for contrast. I also used the Watercolor Pencils to color in the saying and the bears. I mixed the Old Olive and Pacific Point pencils to get a color near Emerald Envy, and mixed the Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight colors to get a color near Sahara Sand. If you color on the positioning sheet of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, you can mix the colors with a Blender Pen and then just pick it up and color with it.

Stampin' Supplies: Pieces & Patterns stamp set, Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper, Sahara Sand card stock, Emerald Envy card stock, Whisper White card stock, Basic Black Archival Ink, Watercolor Pencils (used with Blender Pens), Stamp-a-ma-jig (used sheet for blending Watercolor Pencils), Basic Black striped Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Fine Tip Glue Pen (optional: I put it over the coloring in the word 'WILD' to make it shine).

  3. You are amazing to think of blending those colors to create the Emerald Envy and Sahara Sand! I love the sentiment layout on the Wild About You card with the Baker's Twine. I'm pinning this! I will say, on your simple card, I couldn't get over the cute snail in the background. Made me smile!!!
