A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: One in a Melon

Thanks for joining us for our THIRD #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop! Our kit this month is called One in a Melon, and it came with supplies for 4 bags and 6 cards + envelopes. I thought the bags were super cute, so I kept them as bags. At first, I thought of making a BBQ Survival Kit, but when I was looking for ideas of what to put in them, I came across the "I Do" BBQ idea! It's themed wedding/reception idea, and I think these bags are perfect for it.

I usually try to stick closely to the Paper Pumpkin kit supplies, and only use the kit stamps, but I did need a little help from the Labeler Alphabet stamp set for the "I DO BBQ" saying. I used a combination of the reversed as well as the regular letters that come in this set, so I could put all the letters on the block at the same time. I trimmed some photopolymer off the sides of some of the letters, so they could butt up to one another closely on the block. I also cut the stamp in the set that says "it's your day", to make it instead say, "it's our day"! I was also a bit frugal with the self-adhesive fronds, cutting them in half to make parts stick out from under the banner. The word "HOORAY" was inked up in Melon Mambo (one of the ink pads in the kit), but stamped off once, to make it lighter. And I sponged around the banner with Emerald Envy (the other ink pad in the kit), though you could also get a similar look by gently and carefully wiping the edges of the banner against the ink pad itself.

I only put a few things inside the bag: plastic cutlery, watermelon candies (in our 2"x8" Cello Bags), an insect repellent bracelet, a squirt gun (to keep things cool), and a straw with a name tag (which does double duty as a place card at a table setting, and also functions as a drink charm). I wanted to include a few other things, but gave up trying to find them after a few local store trips: individually wrapped toothpicks, individually packaged plastic bibs or aprons, individually packaged wet wipes, and perhaps some small salt & pepper packets. You can also see I only used 1/4 of one of the 4 sheets of watermelon tissue to line the back of the bag. That left a TON of tissue for wrapping cutlery, and to make the cards!

Speaking of cards, I added yet another stamp set to the mix, the Pop of Paradise stamp set (available in wood-mount or clear-mount). I used the "Thank You" banner from that stamp set, with the Basic Black Archival ink pad, and I cut apart the Paper Pumpkin stamp that said "kindly deliver to", so I could use only the word "kindly". I used only half of the square yellow watercolored die cut from the kit for the card, and also used only half of the printed melons & pineapples background, and a small portion of the watermelon tissue for the card. Because I cut apart the card bases in the kit (to get the printed background from them), I used the Whisper White Notecards for my card base.

You can grab the One in a Melon Refill Kit on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store (as long as supplies last). This includes the consumables only, which is everything but the stamp set & ink. 1. Your project is super fun - but the thing that impressed me almost the most was those yummy looking cookies! I love the idea of making watermelon cookies for summer parties.
