Thanks for joining us for our SECOND #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop! Stampin' Up! had some cute clues on their Paper Pumpkin Facebook Page earlier this month to keep us guessing about the theme of this kit. The last clue was the clincher: "You do nut want to miss this month's Paper Pumpkin kit!" If that doesn't make you hungry...maybe THIS will:
Yes, I made mini donuts!!! Lol, just kidding. I mean, I did make those, but not from scratch. I bought some Organics Honey Nut O's from Safeway, made a chocolate glaze (with organic cocoa, organic powdered sugar, and water), and frosted each one of those little suckers. I don't think I'd do it again, but once the idea came to me, I couldn't let it go. They are totally edible, but you can't have mine--go make your own.
This is an easy way to give donuts without having to prepare any food. I just bought a little 6-pack of Hostess donuts, also at Safeway, and they were also on sale for just $1 a pack. There are 9 bags in the Paper Pumpkin kit you can cut apart to make these, so it's pretty inexpensive to treat several of your friends with boxes of donut(s).
This one is my favorite, even though it's not actually a donut, because it almost matches the frosting and sprinkles on some of the printed card bases. After I poked a hole in the middle and tapped the frosting down a bit, it kinda looks like a donut. And it's still small enough to make a box for it out of just one of the bags from the kit. That means you can grab a 10-pack of Lofthouse cookies, fill 9 donut boxes, and still have ONE cookie left for YOU! nom nom nom...sugar coma...!
I didn't change the cards much from the original kit instructions, I just layered them onto some Crumb Cake card stock for a neutral background. I cut the card stock the size of a standard foldover card, so it would fit nicely into a Medium Very Vanilla Envelope. I also put a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock inside each card, to have a lighter color base for writing or stamping. I did sort of alter my stamps, so I could fit the "...sprinkled with love" saying inside the little starburst part on that last card. The words are already curved, but by taking some notches out of each stamp, there was more flexibility to give them a sharper curve. Here's a picture of them on my stamp block, you may need to click to see the picture larger to see the notches:
You can grab the Sprinkled with Love Refill Kit on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store (as long as supplies last). This includes the consumables only, which is everything but the stamp set & ink. LOVE the chocolate covered Cheerio donuts! Cute little boxes and great ideas for altered cards. TFS!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!! But mostly... I need to eat that pink donut!
ReplyDeleteLove your boxes! And you have to know that those mini donuts just blew me away. Talk about bringing the whole thing together.
ReplyDeleteFun idea making the little boxes for "donut" treats.
ReplyDeleteLol, Cathy Caines...I'm doing a keto diet and I still HAD to eat one of those cookies!!! I couldn't NOT eat it. I'm trying to farm the rest out so I don't eat any more of them.
ReplyDeleteSO CLEVER! You had me fooled!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! I love your boxes and I totally thought that the one box was a box of doughnuts.. Very sneaky and very creative! :)
ReplyDeleteReally sweet projects!! I can't believe you frosted those--the hostess ones are more my speed!!
