Welcome to the APRIL 2024 "April Showers" Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month our theme will focus on projects having to do with the month of April, or anything to do with showers, like rain showers, baby showers, etc. My project today features the Bright Skies BUNDLE. The stamp set and dies will be available in the upcoming Annual Catalog (debuting in May), but you will only be able to get the Bundled items at a 10% Discount through April 30th. {scroll down below the Blog Roll for ALL product purchase links}
This is just an easy card you could send to a friend going through rough times, to let her know everything is going to be okay. I used Thick Basic White Cardstock for the card base, and then used the Bright Skies Dies to cut out the layer of Balmy Blue Cardstock for the top. I inked up the sun first with the Daffodil Delight Ink Pad, then sort of rolled the edges of the image on a Calypso Coral Ink Pad to make the little sunrays a little darker. The greeting was also stamped with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad, and I snipped the banner end by hand. I used the Garden Green Ink Pad in full strength, and also stamped off once, for the flower stems. The tulips were stamped with the Bubble Bath Ink Pad, and the sunflowers were inked up with the Daffodil Delight Ink Pad, and then I used the Calpyso Coral Marker to dot ink into to the center of the flower before I stamped down the image.
If you look at the red arrows below (you might need to zoom in) they point to the pencil marks that I made just inside the cloud die cut before I stamped the flowers. I did that so I would know where the edge of the die cut would be, so I could place my flowers properly. I did it very lightly, but I was in a hurry, and didn't want to erase the marks right away because sometimes the stamped ink seems dry but it will smear if you erase over it. Just keep that in mind if you want to make pencil marks for guidance...give your project way more time to dry than you think it might need, and when you first start erasing, do it super gently, preferably using a white eraser, and stop and wait longer if you see any smearing.
I used the yellow dots from the Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots for embellishment, but the pink ones, orange ones, or dark blue ones would have worked just as well. I also wanted to point out in the above picture, that you can see that the card has its fold down the left side (instead of at the top where you probably see the fold more often on a landscape oriented card such as this. I cut the card base to 8-1/2"x4-1/4", then scored it at 5-1/2" for that.
