Welcome to the JANUARY 2023 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so prices are in USD)
We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Happy NEW Year! We are going to share some new products with you! For my project I am featuring the Love Cats stamp set...my favorite new set from the NEW 2023 Jan-Apr Mini Catalog. {you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}
Today I just went with something simple, and created some Valentine's Day cards with the Love Cats stamp set, Kraft Notecards & Envelopes, and the new Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.
I ran out of time today to get the envelopes done for you, but you can take a coordinating 2"x6" strip of the Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper, adhere it to the envelope flap, and then trim away the excess. If you trim each sheet of your Country Gingham paper to 2"x6", you will end up with 144 strips. You can keep 96 of those strips at 2"x6" for envelope flaps, then cut each of the remaining strips to 2"x3" to make 96 cards. There are 3 cat designs in the stamp set, so you could get 32 sets of 3 cards with coordinating envelopes from just one package of the Country Gingham paper.
The Kraft Notecards & Envelopes come with 20 notecards and 20 envelopes. If you buy 5 packages of those, that will give you 100 notecards and 100 envelopes...enough to make your 96 cards with coordinating envelopes from just ONE package of Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.
And, I purposefully cut the Basic White Cardstock layer to 2-1/8"x3-1/2" so you can cut enough for 12 of these cards from a letter-sized sheet of cardstock. So, you'll need only 8 sheets of Basic White Cardstock to make your 96 cards.
STAMPING TIPS: stamp the "hanging" cat as far up as looks okay to you on the white panel, and more towards the right edge of the panel, to leave room for the 'hanging out' greeting. You might find that it helps to angle the stamp, with the left side of the hanging line up father than the right side. Stamp the "shelf" cat up to the top of the white panel, and consider even stamping so the very top heart of the 3 doesn't stamp on the panel (as I did), and more towards the right edge (which I didn't do). That will give you plenty of room under the cat for any of the 3 greetings to fit.
TOOL TRICKS: if you use the Stamparatus when stamping the solid cat images, you can easily correct any missing spots on the stamped image! And, if you want to do this project with kids, use the Stamparatus so you can position each stamp for them optimally on each panel, and the kids can re-stamp whenever necessary. If you are working with children, I also recommend you use the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad instead of StazOn permanent ink. You will not have to use the harsh solvent StazOn cleaner around the little ones - you can wipe Memento ink off your stamps and Stamparatus with a Simply Shammy and water. And if you want to color in the hearts on each cat image to coordinate with the color of the greeting you stamped, pick up a package of Blender Pens. You can dip a Blender Pen into the ink in the lid of your inkpad, and basically use the Blender Pen as a marker in that same ink color!
Stampin' Supplies: Love Cats stamp set, Basic White Cardstock, Kraft Notecards & Envelopes, StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, Sweet Sorbet Ink Pad, Mint Macaron Ink Pad, Balmy Blue Ink Pad, Country Gingham 6"x6" Designer Series Paper, Festive Pearls (carried over from last catalog), Stampin' Seal (or Multipurpose Liquid Glue), Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Mist & Stampin' Scrub (to clean red rubber stamps), StazOn Cleaner, Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Bone Folder, Grid Paper. {see Product Purchase Links under the Blog Roll}
