Welcome to the JUNE 2022 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so prices are in USD)
We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Bring in the NEW! For my project I am featuring the NEW Breaking News Stamp Set. I love this set...I think it's because printed media seems almost a thing of the past, so there's maybe a bit of nostalgia in the newspaper image. {you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}
Yet another SUPER crappy time for me, I'm still in a lot of pain with my trigeminal neuralgia. Sitting at the computer can make it worse, even with the eyesaver mode, and wearing blue light glasses, so this post will be another short one. I do want to explain how I made the newspaper, though: I crumpled up a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, then smoothed it out with a Bone Folder. If you do this a couple or few times (crumple then smooth out), you will start seeing the paper separate into 2 layers. I peeled these layers apart, and then used a Blending Brush to very, very lightly highlight the crinkles on the smooth side of one of the separated layers, with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Then I stamped the newspaper image over that highlighted surface. I then cut a piece from the other separated layer, and rolled it up, smooth side out, to make the diploma. TIP: If you use the other side of the layers of separated paper, it's kind of fuzzy, like a Faux Suede.

I wanted to use the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad for the newspaper, but sometimes that black is not as opaque as I would like. So, I put my paper in the Stamparatus and that way I could ink up the image and stamp a few times over it in the same place to get a nice dark black. I used the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder on the Vellum Cardstock, and since you can see adhesive through the vellum, I adhered it to the card base by applying Multipurpose Liquid Glue underneath where the upper layers would cover it. The layers under the diploma were made with the new Lasting Label Punch, one layer in Starry Sky Cardstock, with another layer turned perpendicular in Crumb Cake Cardstock. I also stamped the headline using the Starry Sky Ink Pad on Crumb Cake Cardstock, to give it some contrast and also to tie those two colors together more.

Lovely graduation card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! You added so many details that make it special. I'll have to try the separating the paper, that's an interesting technique with so many possibilities. I'm sorry you are in soon much pain. I was having nerve pain in the back of my head a couple of weeks ago and made a roller bottle with Frankincense and Copiaba essential oils in them and fractionated coconut oil, all in equal amounts. It helped the pain a lot. I hope you can find relief, it must be terrible.
