Welcome to the NOVEMBER 2021 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so prices are in USD)
We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Snowflakes! I'm featuring the Penguin Place Stamp Set along with the Linen Specialty Paper. {you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}
My card is pretty simple, my pain went away for like a day or two, so I thought it was gone...but I was wrong. It came back again, even worse. I've been trying anything I can to get it under control, so I wasn't able to stamp much. Right now it's a little more bearable, and I wanted to stamp something new, so this is what came together with the supplies close to my desk. It's another one of those Simple 3x4 DSP (Designer Series Paper) Layered Cards like I made on World Card Making Day, except I substituted a design of my own on the Linen Specialty Paper instead of using DSP. If you click on the link below, it will take you to a YouTube video detailing how those cards are assembled.
There are a couple of differences I want to point out on today's card. First, the Linen Specialty Paper that I used has an adhesive backing to it. When you peel that backing off and adhere that paper to your cardstock layer, the overhanging edges will have exposed adhesive on the back. You may choose to support those with a little scrap piece of cardstock underneath, or you could do as I did and just tap some powder on that sticky exposed part so it won't stick down to the card base. (I used our retired Embossing Buddy to do that)
The other difference I wanted to point out is the stamped line that looks like a hill. I used the Stamparatus to line this up super easily. I laid my card base down on the Stamparatus (you'll want to use the foam layer underneath your project since it is a photopolymer stamp), then laid my top layer on that without adhering it. Hold them in place with your magnet and stamp the hill where you want it. Then open the Stamparatus, remove the top layer - being careful not to move the card base at all - then reink your "hill" image and stamp again on just the card base. Once you are done, you will just line up the top layer over the hill that is stamped on the card base, and adhere that layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The final details that I think are worth pointing out, include the shaded background created with the Blending Brushes, and some subtle ink differences. I used only the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad for this project, including that shaded background. I also stamped one of the trees at full ink strength, and then stamped the one next to it without inking it back up, so it would be a little lighter and give the impression of depth in the scene. I only inked up the part of the greeting from the Penguin Place Stamp Set that I wanted to use, and then added some stamped off snowflakes to that little tag.
