A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Sending Hearts

Welcome to our JANUARY 2021 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Each month we share alternate projects using Stampin' Up!'s Paper Pumpkin Kit! We usually hop on the last Thursday of the month.

I haven't played along with this blog hop in a while, so I'm a little rusty...and I decided to keep things simple. I just covered a little box of Brach's Tiny Conversation Hearts. I think I got these rather inexpensively at the grocery store in a 10-pack. You can see how I covered the same boxes with some FREE Sale-a-Bration patterned paper in my LAST POST.
{you'll find product purchase links beneath the Blog Roll, near the bottom of the post}

The Paper Pumpkin kit for January was called Sending Hearts. It came with supplies to create eight standard-sized cards (four each of two designs), with coordinating envelopes! Coordinating colors for this kit are: Basic Black, Gold, Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, Smoky Slate, and Basic White. The picture below shows what the cards would look like if you created them according to the kit instructions.

The elements I used from this kit coordinate nicely with the Snail Mail Suite Collection, which I don't have yet, but it's so adorable! And the kit has this cute snail image that I really wanted to use. Oftentimes, I stick really close to the kit contents, but this time I used several extra items because I wanted to color that snail with Stampin' Blends. I don't often feel like coloring, but I *had* to color this little guy. In order to do that, I used the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad, because it won't bleed when colored with the Blends.

Also, I love to make treat holders that you don't really have to tear apart in order to get to the goodies. I created most of the decoration as a "wrap", and the box of conversation hearts is secure enough inside it that it stays put, but you can slide it right out of the side. I even tied the Basic Black ribbon (which came with the kit) around the "wrap", so you don't have to untie it. And when you are done with the candy, you can actually tuck the box right back inside the wrap if you want to keep it for eye candy. It's super cute, you know you want to keep it. Lol.

I think I'll do a video on this project, maybe tomorrow...but it's super easy to make. Some TIPS in the meantime: 1) I'm a little weird about permanently covering up parts of packages that include ingredients, so I put the Pool Party Cardstock on the sides with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I put the glue on the underside of the cardstock and let it sit to dry, then attached it to the side of the box. When you let it dry first, before adhering, it creates a temporary bond. It's sticky enough to stay in place, but if someone wants to see underneath, it's removable. 2) I cut the Paper Pumpkin card bases in 1-3/4" strips, then scored at 3/8" from each end, and 3/8" on each side of the score mark that was already on the card base. It will then wrap EXACTLY around the box - and you can use a 1-3/4" x 3/4" strip of Pool Party Cardstock to adhere the loose ends of the wrap, at the inside bottom where no one will see it!

If you look really carefully, you can see I highlighted the whites of the snail's eyes with the Clear Wink of Stella, to add a little glimmer! Oh, and that cute little epoxy heart next to the greeting was also included in the Paper Pumpkin kit. There's a Little Love Boxes Add-On Kit that coordinates with this Paper Pumpkin kit, with its own adorable embellishments included, but I didn't receive mine in time for this post so I'll have to share that with you later!
