Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Last Minute Lucy

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Last Minute Lucy! Our posts will feature projects that you can make at the "last minute" for the holidays - including things like stocking stuffers, quick and easy cards, wrapping and packaging, and the like.
{you'll find Product Purchase Links for current items I've used, below the Blog Roll}

I stole a quick idea from Stampin' Up!'s CEO Sara Douglass for my "quickie"+ . She did a Facebook Livestream showing how to make some easy boxes from our Designer Series Paper. She actually made both the lid and the bottom of her boxes both from a sheet of 12"x12" paper, and you can see her VIDEO of her versions on her page HERE or click on the image below.

I tweaked my version to use our Designer Series Paper only on the top of my box, and coordinating cardstock on the bottom of the box. And I've sized it so it can fit a gift card inside, which is always a great last minute gift! The Night of Navy Cardstock on the bottom is 4-1/4"x5-1/2", and it is scored at 1" all around. The Snowflake Splendor DSP comes in 12"x12" sheets, and I first cut it down to get a 6"x6" sheet, then trimmed that sheet down to 4-1/4"x5-1/2".

The little strips of Snowflake Splendor DSP that are left over, come in handy for a couple of things. First, the smaller, skinny strip can be folded in half and attached to the gift card, so you can pull it out of the box more easily (since the card fits right down at the bottom of the box). Then, you can use the bigger left over strip to cover candies that you include in the box...or just cut it in strips and use it for crinkle paper you put either under the card, or over the top.

I think our Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack coordinates beautifully with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, and makes it easy to dress up your Gift Card Box so it looks like you spent more time on it than you really did! If you didn't use that bigger strip of left over DSP for anything inside your box, you could even fold it over and use it for a Gift Tag on your box. This particular pattern that I used for the lid is a light Coastal Cabana color on the inside, so you could easily write on that with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

And, while I didn't use any stamps on this project, you might want to check out the Snowflake Splendor Suite and see if you'd like the coordinating Snowflake Wishes Bundle (stamp set + dies), or any of the coordinating bling.

Stampin' Supplies: Night of Navy Cardstock, Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack, Mini Glue Dots (to attach skinny strip to card), Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Paper Snips, Grid Paper, Stampin' Trimmer.
