Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Spring

Welcome to the March 2020 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects from around the world--but I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Spring! My project today features some coordinating products coming mostly from the Peaceful Poppies SUITE in the 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog!
{you'll find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post!}

This is another sample designed by a fellow stamper, which I made at a shoebox swap. It is a little different take on using the Peaceful Poppies stamp set, using what might be considered more of a background image from the set, as a focal image. The color combo of Seaside Spray and Whisper White, with the contrasting Basic Black, is also a bit less traditional for a Spring card...but I love the effect!

The 'Thank You' greeting comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, and it has been heat embossed using White Stampin' Emboss Powder. To cut down on any static that might attract extra bits of embossing powder onto your Basic Black Cardstock, consider wiping the Embossing Buddy over the surface before stamping down the greeting. You can use either the VersaMark Ink Pad, or the Whisper White Craft Ink Pad, to stamp the greeting so the embossing powder will adhere to it. Then use the Heat Tool to set the embossing powder.

To stamp the poppy sprigs behind the greeting, you can use either the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad, or the StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad. To stamp the poppy sprigs along the bottom edge of the card base, as well as the background splotches behind the black stamped sprigs, as well as the flap of your Medium Whisper White Envelope, you'll want to use the Seaside Spray Ink Pad.

Those cute little sequins can be found in the Peaceful Poppies Sequins assortment. You can adhere those with our Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, our Fine Tip Glue Pen, or some Mini Glue Dots which is what I used (although you might have to scrunch some of the excess of the glue dot under the sequin so it doesn't show). This assortment also includes sequins in Dark Poppy Parade, Light Poppy Parade, and Clear...although those colors were not used on this project. And finally, you'll find the scalloped rectangle dies in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies set. {you'll need a die-cutting machine to use those}

Here's a straight-on picture of mostly just the card. Like I said, I really feel like the black contrast isn't exactly what you might expect on a Spring card, but I feel like it does give this project quite a pop of freshness. And trimming out the embossed greeting with the Paper Snips before adhering it with the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, makes it feel more a part of the floral arrangement than an afterthought.

Stampin' Supplies: Peaceful Poppies stamp set, Peaceful Moments stamp set, Seaside Spray Cardstock & Ink Pad, Whisper White Cardstock, Basic Black Cardstock, StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad or Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad, Stitched So Sweetly Dies (scalloped rectangles), Peaceful Poppies Sequins, VersaMark Ink Pad or Whisper White Craft Ink Pad, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, SNAIL Adhesive or Tombow Liquid Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Paper Snips, Grid Paper, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut and score cardstock), Stampin' Scrub & Stampin' Mist (to clean red rubber stamps), Simply Shammy (to clean photopolymer stamps), Whisper White Medium Envelope (for mailing!).

We Create Blog Hop - Swing into Spring

Welcome to the March 2020 Swing into Spring Blog Hop!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month we are creating projects with a Spring or "swing" theme! My post includes items from the Grace's Garden BUNDLE!
{scroll to the bottom of this post for ALL product purchase links}

I am once again featuring a card I made at a shoebox swap, which was designed by a fellow demonstrator. If you know me at all, you'll know that the one thing I love most about this  Grace's Garden stamp set is the little kitty cat! And I really love the texture that the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder gives the background of this card.

I do need to mention that right now, the Garden Gateway Dies are on backorder. Looks like the estimated ship time for those is April 13th. But, you could easily cut out the little kitty and the gate using your Paper Snips, to make this adorable card.

For the 'hello' greeting on the card, you could use the Layering Circles Dies. You could also use the 1-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, but you would want a 1-1/4" Circle Punch to layer over the top of that, and the Stampin' Up! punch of that size is retired. Still, if you have it on hand, it works beautifully.

Usually I don't like flowery sets, but like I said, the kitty is so cute! When you go to adhere your little kitty next to the fence post, you might want to cut one Mini Stampin' Dimensional in half, and make sure to set it over more towards the kitty's tail, so you can snuggle that kitty right up near the post. Another thing that's great about this set is that it includes several great little greetings and sayings, so it's easy to use just this one stamp set to make cards.

TIPS: 1) I cut the gate so it would open at the center, and would give the card a little bit of depth. For best alignment, adhere the gate before snipping it open. To do this, make sure your Mini Stampin' Dimensionals are ONLY on the left and right posts of the gate. 2) Stamp the bird in position on top of the right gate post after adhering the gate, for the best alignment. Be super careful that you only have ink on the bird image and nowhere else on that stamp, before stamping down, for the best results.

Stampin' Supplies: Grace's Garden BUNDLE (stamp set + dies), Soft Seafoam Cardstock and Ink Pad (for grass patches), Whisper White Cardstock, Pool Party Cardstock (for scalloped circle) and Ink Pad (for clouds), Bermuda Bay Cardstock and Ink Pad (for bird and greetings), Crumb Cake Cardstock, Early Espresso Ink Pad (for cat and gate), Garden Green Ink Pad (for flowers); Brights Stampin' Write Markers: Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo (for flowers), Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight (for cat), and Old Olive or Granny Apple Green (for leaves/foliage); Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder, SNAIL and/or Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Simply Shammy (to clean photopolymer stamps), Grid Paper, Paper Snips, Paper Trimmer (to cut and score cardstock), Medium Whisper White Envelopes (for mailing!). {a die cutting machine is needed for the Garden Gateway Dies, and the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder}
