Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Fresh & New

Welcome to the May 2024 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! You'll see projects in our hop from Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices mentioned are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, and our theme for today is Fresh & New! We'll be sharing projects with products from the NEW 2024-2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. My project features our five NEW 2024-2026 In Colors: Summer Splash, Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, and Shy Shamrock. {you can find all Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll near the bottom of the post}

The 2024-2026 In Color 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (DSP) really carries this card. The playfulness of the Hearts & Hugs BUNDLE (stamp set + dies) makes the perfect pairing. Here's a nice view of the 2024-2026 In Colors together...those of you who have been using Stampin' Up! colors for a good while might recognize Pretty in Pink. It's a returning color.

The easiest way to make a card like mine is to take your 2024-2026 In Color 6"x6" Designer Series Paper and pull out one sheet of each color in the same design, make sure all the sheets are in the same orientation, and cut them to 4"x5". You can cut the sheets individually to that size with our Paper Trimmer, but for the next step, a guillotine-type trimmer is going to do the job the fastest and easiest, without having to use any kind of template. Keeping your 5 sheets of 4"x5" paper stacked neatly, cut 5 strips out. I did mine with a guillotine-type cutter, so I just skewed the paper differently for each cut. If you don't have a guillotine-type cutter then I think you'll just have to cut the first sheet, then use those pieces to make light pencil marks as cutting guides on the rest of the pieces. Anyway, the picture below shows how my cuts came out.

Each of those piles of strips is 5 sheets, so I just went through and took one color from each pile to put my card together. The great thing about cutting them this way is that you have enough pieces to make FIVE cards! To adhere them to the card base, I first laid all the pieces out on the card to get an idea of spacing. Then, I adhered the one on the left side, and the one on the right side, and finally I placed the 3 in the center. It's not perfect - I just eyeballed it - but I think it's fine. If you use our Multipurpose Liquid Glue for adhering these strips, and just set them lightly in place, you should have some time before the glue sets to sort of slide them over a bit if you need to adjust your spacing. Once they are where you want them, then burnish them down in place.

I used our NEW Basic Beige Cardstock for the badgers, because I wanted my layer to be light enough for using the Stampin' Blends, but a little less stark than a white or vanilla. This does mean that I had to actually color the white parts of the badgers' faces and tails for those parts to stand out like I wanted. I used a white gel pen I had on hand, but you could use our Blender Pens to pick up a little bit of White Craft Ink Refill, and sort of "marker" that white where you want it. For the badger's bodies, I used the Light Basic Black Stampin' Blends marker to outline, then I actually used the Dark Pebbled Path Stampin' Blends marker to add more color in the center. Then I went back over it in places with the Color Lifter marker to pull out some of the color where it was too dense. Again, it's not perfect, but I think they turned out okay. You could make their noses black, but I used the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Blends marker to give them a softer look.

Here's a last closeup of the whole card put together. The center of each of those die cut flowers has a different color of the 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems.

We Create Blog Hop - Mother May I?

Welcome to the MAY 2024 "Mother May I?" Blog Hop, and the DEBUT of the 2024-2025 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog!!! We generally hop on the first day of every month, and this month our theme will focus on projects having to do with the month of May, including Mother's Day. My project today features the NEW Mix & Match Products. {scroll down below the Blog Roll for ALL product purchase links}

The NEW Mix & Match products I used for my card are the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes, the Saying Something Ephemera Pack, and the Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack. There's also a coordinating stamp set I'll show you below, but I wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to use the pre-printed die cut elements to create a card.

The Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes come in a small pack of only 5 cards with coordinating envelopes, but all 5 cards (and coordinating envelopes) feature different designs. Our Mix & Match products also include the Sunny Springs Cards & Envelopes pack, but the Calming Creek pack is much less flowery so I felt like it would be a little more versatile for me.

The Saying Something Ephemera Pack includes tons of different die cut sayings, in several different formats. You get 2 each of 4 different sheets (5"x7") of designs, for a total of 8 sheets. It includes the very popular rectangular sayings strips, outline cut sayings, a couple different banner edged sayings, and even one in a circle. In addition, there are plenty of modern cursive greeting die cuts that are generously sized, so they work wonderfully as a focal image. TIP: if you want to pop up the cursive sayings, trim a skinny strip off one side of one of our Foam Adhesive Sheets and then cut to whatever little lengths fit best - look for straight parts of the letters for easier placement.

The Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack also contains 8 sheets that are 5"x7", and there are 2 each of 4 different variations. This pack works beautifully together with the Saying Something greetings. On my card I used a couple of pieces for layering, but you can also stamp on them.

The coordinating Simply Said Mix & Match Photopolymer Stamp Set has sayings that are sized specifically for use with the Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack. It's a fantastic versatile stamp set in its own right, as well. But as you can see from my photo, you don't really have to have the stamp set, or stamping supplies (cardstock, ink, blocks, etc.), in order to make a cute little card with the Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes, and the Ephemera Packs.

I finished my card by adding some of the NEW Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls, as well as a little bow made with our Linen Thread. These are great embellishments to choose for your Mix & Match projects, because they are neutral colors that should go with just about any design!

Stampin' Supplies: Calming Creek Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes, Saying Something Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Labels & Layers Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls, Linen Thread, Paper Snips (for cutting thread), and Bone Folder (optional, to burnish score lines).
