A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Joy to the World

Welcome to our OCTOBER 2020 #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop. Each month we share alternate projects using Stampin' Up!'s Paper Pumpkin Kit! We usually hop on the last Thursday of the month.

My alternate project this month is a set of cards using the Double Wonder Template, which I've altered to use with four 6"x6" patterned paper sheets (2 each of 2 different patterns). Today I'll just show you all 13 cards I was able to make, and maybe this weekend I can get my template up, and do a quick video for you. These are mostly intended as Christmas cards (although some are not really traditional colors), but I think the black and yellow ones work for a birthday, as well.

Our Paper Pumpkin kit for October was called Joy to the World. It came with supplies to create 8 full-sized Christmas cards, with beautiful gold foil details. Below is a picture of how the projects would look if you make them according to the kit directions. I just love the script in the stamp set! This special Paper Pumpkin kit has been made available to all Stampin' Up! markets - I am in the U.S. This month's focus is to spread the #JoyOfPaperPumpkin all across the world!

My alternate cards are definitely very #simplestamping, and there are lots of ways to easily bling them up, but if you don't want to spend 120 hours making cards, you can get these 13 cards easily done within about an hour with the Double Wonder Template! I chose the Plaid Tidings 6"x6" Designer Series Paper for my cards (ON SALE thru 10/31!!!) and it took four sheets, but you can easily use this same template with just ONE 12"x12" sheet of patterned paper. I used only 8 sheets of cardstock to make all these cards, and two ink pads.

Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Halloween & Autumn Hues

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Halloween & Autumn Hues! Our posts will feature projects related to Halloween and/or Autumn Hues. Please keep in mind that Autumn Hues in the Northern Hemisphere look different from those in the Southern Hemisphere.

My project is an alternate design of a "Merry Catmas" card I made, featuring the Menagerie Mix-Up Photopolymer Stamp Set, for World Card Making Day earlier in the month. I've used the same layout, but changed the colors and theme, to create a "Happy Meow-loween" card. The card below is the "Merry Catmas" card. (You can get PDF instructions with a video link showing how to make my "Merry Catmas" card - plus ELEVEN more cards - when you make a purchase from me during October, using my Host Code JGRCNG9Z)

I used the same Playful Alphabet Dies to change the greeting, and because it's Halloween, I used a little silver bone from the Playful Pets Trinkets...lol. The Black & White twine comes in the same Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack as that Red & White ribbon shown on the "Merry Catmas" card. So, you can use a lot of the same supplies.

On my "Merry Catmas" card, I used the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper for the die cut letters. That paper stack has a lot of different colors in it, so you might be able to use it for this card as well...PLUS it's on SALE through the end of October! For my "Happy Meow-loween" card, I just used Basic Black Cardstock, since I was already using it for a background layer. I was concerned the extra thickness of the cardstock, along with the Foam Adhesive Sheet I used to back the cardstock, might be more difficult to die cut. But my NEW Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine rolled through it smoothly. If you don't have that yet, I *highly* recommend it. It works SOOOOO much better with our dies and supplies than other makes and models of die cutting machines.
