Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Memories and More

Welcome to the January 2019 Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, featuring a Memories & More theme! You'll see projects from stampers from around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

We generally hop the first Friday of each month, so be sure to come back regularly. This month I'm featuring a mini album using the 6x8 Memories & More pocket pages, along with some FREE Sale-a-Bration and Occasions Catalog products.
(see specific Product Purchase Links below the Blog Roll)

So, I have a confession to make. I don't really own any Memories & More card packs. I kinda don't like to get roped into preprinted stuff because I like to change the color combos, and use sets that don't necessarily coordinate with the images on the cards. I do, however, have some Variety Pack 6x8 Photo Pocket Pages, and that's what I used for my project. I cut a few pages in half, stapled them together, then added a cover...that's what you see in the above picture. I'll just flip through the book so you can get an idea of what I've done.

And for this blog post, I'm actually only going to show you the basic album, without a lot of decoration. I will share the embellishment and decoration in a different post. This is partly because I still need to complete the excavation of my stamp room, and partly because I don't want to overwhelm you with details at first. This is a very simple thing to make, and I feel like separating out the bare bones of it helps illustrate that point. You can always make it more froo-froo, but sometimes you just need something that gets the job done.

Although I mentioned I don't like getting roped into only using the color combo of the preprinted Memories & More cards, I *do* like using those color combos for inspiration. I've used a couple of the colors from the NEW Happiness Blooms Memories & More Card Pack, featured in the 2019 Occasions Catalog. Those colors are Night of Navy, and Call Me Clover. I chose these two colors because I wanted to coordinate with the FREE Sale-a-Bration Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper, and later I want to stamp some froggies in and on my mini album from the FREE Sale-a-Bration So Hoppy Together stamp set.

Sorry for the quality of the inside pictures, the pocket pages pick up glare like nobody's business! You can see as I'm flipping through, that there are no butterflies showing on the big pockets where I put the Designer Series Paper. This is because I don't like butterflies! Lol. The Botanical Butterfly DSP is SOOOO worth getting, though, as it has black and white designs on the back of each sheet (like the polka dots show above) that you can use instead.

To be clear, this particular leafy green sheet of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper in the 4x6 pocket actually has black and white butterflies on the back of it. So, I cut a different sheet with the polka dots on it, and I put the leafy green pattern and the polka dot pattern back-to-back in the pocket, so you don't see ANY butterflies.

The cardstock pieces are just the same color/piece showing through the pocket pages from front to back. No need to add any colors back to back in those pockets. If you just want to keep your mini album simple, you could just drop some snapshots, or handwritten notes, or memorabilia into the pockets, adhering them to the DSP and cardstock if you want to keep them in place.

So that's the end of it...this shows the back side of the last two pockets, and the back cover. I will try to get a video done for you on the assembly for this one. It honestly goes together pretty fast if you know what to do. Lol, it took me a little longer because I was working it out as I was going along!
