A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Sprinkled with Love Kit

Thanks for joining us for our SECOND #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop! Stampin' Up! had some cute clues on their Paper Pumpkin Facebook Page earlier this month to keep us guessing about the theme of this kit. The last clue was the clincher: "You do nut want to miss this month's Paper Pumpkin kit!" If that doesn't make you hungry...maybe THIS will:

Yes, I made mini donuts!!! Lol, just kidding. I mean, I did make those, but not from scratch. I bought some Organics Honey Nut O's from Safeway, made a chocolate glaze (with organic cocoa, organic powdered sugar, and water), and frosted each one of those little suckers. I don't think I'd do it again, but once the idea came to me, I couldn't let it go. They are totally edible, but you can't have mine--go make your own.

This is an easy way to give donuts without having to prepare any food. I just bought a little 6-pack of Hostess donuts, also at Safeway, and they were also on sale for just $1 a pack. There are 9 bags in the Paper Pumpkin kit you can cut apart to make these, so it's pretty inexpensive to treat several of your friends with boxes of donut(s).

This one is my favorite, even though it's not actually a donut, because it almost matches the frosting and sprinkles on some of the printed card bases. After I poked a hole in the middle and tapped the frosting down a bit, it kinda looks like a donut. And it's still small enough to make a box for it out of just one of the bags from the kit. That means you can grab a 10-pack of Lofthouse cookies, fill 9 donut boxes, and still have ONE cookie left for YOU! nom nom nom...sugar coma...!

I didn't change the cards much from the original kit instructions, I just layered them onto some Crumb Cake card stock for a neutral background. I cut the card stock the size of a standard foldover card, so it would fit nicely into a Medium Very Vanilla Envelope. I also put a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock inside each card, to have a lighter color base for writing or stamping. I did sort of alter my stamps, so I could fit the "...sprinkled with love" saying inside the little starburst part on that last card. The words are already curved, but by taking some notches out of each stamp, there was more flexibility to give them a sharper curve. Here's a picture of them on my stamp block, you may need to click to see the picture larger to see the notches:

You can grab the Sprinkled with Love Refill Kit on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store (as long as supplies last). This includes the consumables only, which is everything but the stamp set & ink. By the way, you're gonna have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to buy whatever's available, so go ahead and sign up HERE to get your email address in the system first! And if you are a NEW Subscriber, you qualify to get 25% OFF YOUR FIRST THREE MONTHS...use the Promo Code STARTHERE when you sign up HERE for Paper Pumpkin through June 10, 2017 (by 11:50pm MT).

Definitely for Dudes: Well Nuts Card

Another card for you, in my Definitely for Dudes series! This one would make a great "I'm sorry" card, or even a belated birthday card. Again, some of the supplies are sold out now, and others are on the Retiring List, and they will be sold ONLY while supplies last. Get over to my Online Store and grab what's left of your faves now!

This project also features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. Have you bought your set yet?? Lol. As with the previous card, the Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut some of the pieces are sold out. But, as of this moment, you can still grab the clear-mount version of the stamp set ON SALE...but it is LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get them before it's too late. Same goes for the Delightful Dijon ink pad and the Delightful Dijon card stock I used on this card.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Labeler Alphabet photopolymer stamp set, Basic Gray card stock, Basic Black Archival ink pad, Basic Gray Marker (from the Neutrals Marker Assortment), Silver Metallic Foil Sheets, Metallic Enamel Shapes, and Very Vanilla card stock.

Here's the next project in my Definitely for Dudes series! Again, some of the supplies are sold out now, and others are on the Retiring List, and they will be sold ONLY while supplies last. Get over to my Online Store and grab what's left of your faves now!

This project features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount, as well as the Urban District stamp set, also available in wood-mount and clear-mount. As on the last card, the Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut some of the pieces (hexagon, ruler) are sold out. However, these two stamp sets are keepers, and as of right now, the clear-mount version of each set is ON SALE...but they are also LOW INVENTORY, so you'll want to get them before it's too late. Same goes for the Delightful Dijon ink pad I used on this card.

The supplies for this project that will be carrying over to the new catalog are: Dapper Denim card stock, Dapper Denim ink pad, Basic Gray card stock, Smoky Slate ink pad, Metallic Enamel Shapes, and Very Vanilla card stock.

Definitely for Dudes: Hanging Tools Card

I have several cards and projects geared for guys, which I plan to present in a little series called Definitely for Dudes! I actually made these last November for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator event--well, a little bit before November--and some of the supplies are sold out now. However, the Retiring STAMP SETS are still guaranteed available through TODAY, and then they will be sold ONLY while supplies last. So, I wanted to pop them up on your radar.

This project features the Nailed It stamp set, which is available in wood-mount and clear-mount. The Build It Framelits Dies I used to cut out the tools are sold out, and so are the Urban Underground Embellishments (the silver stars), but I really feel that the set itself is still worth grabbing. You might want to get a handful of the Delightful Dijon card stock, and maybe a Delightful Dijon ink pad before they're sold out, as they work really well with the Nailed It stamp set.

Are you having a handmade Father's Day??
Let me know if I can help you design your projects :-)

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop 9: Sorry You're Leaving

Welcome to the 9th Edition of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! We publish the hop the first Friday of every month! You'll see projects from Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world in this blog hop. My name is Kimberley Morris, and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA).

This month our theme is Sorry You're Leaving. We've each picked some Retiring Products that we're sad to see leaving the catalog on May 31st. It's a bittersweet farewell, as the 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog debuts June 1st, with TONS of amazing NEW product!

My project this month is a Basket of Mother's Day Cards, and they feature the stamp set Crazy About You (available in wood-mount, clear-mount, AND photopolymer), along with the coordinating Flower Medallion Punch, Hello You Thinlits Dies, Kraft 12x12 Cardstock, and the 2015-2017 Retiring In Colors. {note: if you click on the link for a product in this post, and the item page does not come up in my store, it is no longer available...sorry!}

My basket is created from just one sheet of Kraft 12x12 Cardstock, and I actually used it as an Easter basket for my step-daughter. If you don't want to do this project for Mother's Day, I think the basket works well through Spring and Summer. I'm just about finished reorganizing my stamp room, so I hope to get a video tutorial up for the basket soon. Feel free to subscribe to my blog via email, and you'll get my posts in your Inbox, so you can be notified when the tutorial is ready :-)

For simplicity, I used a similar layout for all of my cards, but you don't have to do that. I figured out 10 different cards I wanted to make, that would be easy to make in multiples. The basket will hold at least 20 foldover cards and envelopes, if the cards aren't too terribly thick (which you really don't want anyway, as it will require extra postage for the sender). Or, you could make just one set of cards, and maybe tuck some other little gifts towards the front of the basket. You could make all of them into Thank You cards for a new bride, new mom, new graduate. You could make them all Happy Hello cards for someone who has just moved house, so they can tell everyone their new address. And that's just a few ideas--see how versatile this project can be?? I plan to show you each of the cards more closely on a separate post, so if you subscribe to my blog via email, you'll get that notification, too.

Don't forget to sign the backs of your cards before you send them or give them away. I love this little greeting from the Better Than Email photopolymer stamp set, it's truly a keeper! (and it's also RETIRING, so you'll want to get yours before it's gone for good)

I also want to put a little plug in here for the #MakeACardSendACard campaign Sara Douglass (Stampin' Up! CEO) recently initiated. Consider that you can help others get involved, who don't want to actually MAKE a card, if you GIFT them a basket of cards THEY can SEND! Yes, I love making them, and my mom loved making them (she passed in 2011), but my mother-law has no interest in making cards. She does, however, enjoy SENDING cards. So, if you find yourself heavy on the making end, and not so solid on the sending end...remember you can OUTSOURCE IT by gifting those handmade cards! Lol.

The Crazy About You stamp set is rather unique in that it is available in all 3 stamp styles, wood-mount, clear-mount, and photopolymer. As a demonstrator, I prefer to invest in wood-mount stamp sets, so I only have to mount the stamps once, and each image is ready to be stamped in a class setting. To me, the wood-mount stamp is a piece of art in and of itself, so it's also an aesthetic issue. Plus, the red rubber is so sturdy, it will last a lifetime. And this really is a set you can use for a lifetime--there are so many sayings, from Valentine's Day through Father's Day (including Graduation!). Seriously, you NEED this stamp set, and the coordinating punch, and dies!!!

Stampin' Supplies: Crazy About You stamp set, Better Than Email stamp set, Kraft 12x12 Cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Cucumber Crush cardstock and ink, Watermelon Wonder cardstock and ink, Basic Black card stock and ink, Tip Top Taupe cardstock, Daffodil Delight ink, Delightful Dijon cardstock, Dapper Denim card stock and ink, Pool Party cardstock and ink, Mint Macaron card stock and ink, Whisper White Thick Baker's Twine, Triple Banner Punch, Hello You Thinlits, Flower Medallion Punch, Whisper White Medium Envelopes, Basic Rhinestones, 1-3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch (retired).

All Things Thanks - May Step It Up Blog Hop

Welcome to the May 2017 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop! The theme is to inspire stampers with a basic design, and at least one alternate "stepped up" version of that same design. My project this month features the All Things Thanks stamp set (available in wood-mount or clear-mount).
{please excuse the pictures, it's very challenging to get good contrast for white on white with my setup!}

I'm sort of cheating with this first card, because I didn't stamp it myself. I received it as thanks for being a Display Stamper, and a Presenter, at Stampin' Up!'s November 2016 OnStage Local event in Kansas City. I just really loved the design, and I used it in a card class I did at my local library branch this month.

Stampin' Supplies: All Things Thanks stamp set, Bermuda Bay ink pad, Pool Party card stock, Whisper White Thick card stock (card base), Whisper White card stock (embossed layer), Sparkle Embossing Folder, Sweet & Sassy Framelits (heart), Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (SOLD OUT), Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon, Silver Sequin Trim, Triple Banner Punch, Handheld Stapler (SOLD OUT).

This is my alternate design for this card. When I did the library class, participants could either make the card with the heart (like the first card), or they could use the oval, as you see on this card. We had already made a gift bag and 3 cards, so this card was more of a "choose your own adventure" experience. As long as they used the Bermuda Bay ink on the Pool Party card stock, or the Pumpkin Pie ink pad on the Peekaboo Peach card stock, they could mix and match between the two embossing folders, the sequin trim/ribbon/twine, and whatever strip of the Cupcakes & Carousels patterned paper they wanted. I didn't give them the extra layer of card stock like I used, or the enamel shapes, but they still came up with very different looking designs! I wish I had pictures of their creations, but I was a little busy with this free-for-all kind of activity at the end of the class ;-)

Stampin' Supplies: All Things Thanks stamp set, Pumpkin Pie ink pad, Peekaboo Peach card stock, Whisper White Thick card stock (card base), Whisper White card stock (embossed layer), Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder* (SOLD OUT), Stitched Shapes Framelits (oval), Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack, Bermuda Bay Thick Baker's Twine, Silver Sequin Trim, Metallic Enamel Shapes, Triple Banner Punch, Handheld Stapler (SOLD OUT).

*Don't be too sad the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder is gone...I've seen the new catalog and there's a nice replacement. Some other items may also be SOLD OUT by the time this post is published, make sure you check out the Retiring Products section of my Online Store to grab your favorites from what's left, at prices UP TO 50% OFF!!!

Totally Pawesome Retiring SALE

Have you checked out Stampin' Up!'s Retiring SALE yet? Every day a few more (p)awesome products become unavailable...and I want to point out a few of them you need to grab, especially if you'd like to make this foxy little project! It's a mini composition book, and the idea behind it comes from another demonstrator, who suggests writing three reasons every day, that show you are (p)awesome. Then, when you're feeling a little blue (or maybe even Bermuda Bay), you can flip back through your notes :-D

The retiring products you are going to need for this project are: A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, Bermuda Bay Striped Baker's Twine (40% OFF), and the Grateful Bunch stamp set. (as long as you are at it, the Blossom Bunch Punch coordinates with the Grateful Bunch stamp set, and is 50% OFF!) And, if you don't have the Foxy Friends stamp set and coordinating Fox Builder Punch, you'll want to grab those in the Foxy Friends BUNDLE (10% OFF) because they will only be available separately, at full price, after the new catalog debuts June 1st.

I have a copy of the new upcoming 2017-18 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, and I can't find another stamp set that says "you are totally awesome" that will work with the trick I used on the banner of this project. I used the 'p' from the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set and dropped it right at the front of the saying. Photopolymer stamps are perfect for stuff like that. You can see through the clear block below, that I cut the saying image apart, so I could re-center the top line. Then I just kept the 'p' on the other side of the block, so I could ink it up and pop it right in after stamping the saying. 'Cuz I'm lazy pawesome like that ;-)

Be sure to check out the Retiring Products section of my Online Store to see what else you can't live without...do it before more of your favorites are SOLD OUT!

Stampin' Supplies: Foxy Friends stamp set, Grateful Bunch stamp set, Brushwork Alphabet stamp set, Basic Gray Archival ink pad, Bermuda Bay ink pad, Pool Party card stock, Smoky Slate card stock, A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Triple Banner Punch, Bermuda Bay Striped Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals, Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Corner Punch, Mini Composition Book (got mine at an office supply store).

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: A Sara Thing Kit

Thanks for joining us for our NEW #APaperPumpkinThing Blog Hop! I was so super excited to get the A Sara Thing kit this month, and to be asked to join a Blog Hop using this kit :-D AAANND, even more excited to find out that we're doing a GIVEAWAY...details just above the NEXT button near the bottom of the post.

My take on the kit was inspired by the black and white stripes, and I tried to stay as close to the kit supplies as possible for you. For my Best Actor box/bag, I used a bit of the washi tape on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock, and attached it to a "bagalope" (made from an envelope from the kit) with a little office supply brad. I used the watercolor pencils and brush that came with the kit, and watercolored right onto the white space on the envelope. Then I used the 'BEST' stamp right over the dried watercolor. To get the word 'ACTOR', I stamped some other words from the set onto scrap Whisper White card stock, and cut them out before adhering to the front of the box/bag. I found out I could watercolor with the pencils on Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, so I punched out some blue stars from that for accents on the box.

I went a little off the reservation with the film reel, because my son came downstairs and suggested I make one with an empty ribbon spool, and that bell could not be unrung! I used Silver Metallic Foil Paper on each side of the spool and then cut little squares from Basic Black card stock to go around the edges. The "film" going around and coming off the spool is the same washi tape from the kit. The 'SCRIPT' is a mini composition book covered with Basic Black card stock, and some of that same washi on the spine, with the words handwritten using the Chalk Marker.

For my Best Actress card, I made the card similar to the box, and did my trick on scrap Whisper White to cut out the different letters I needed. Then I used some pieces from a heart shape included in the kit, which I cut out in what looked to me like theater mask shapes. I watercolored those lightly and drew in the faces. ETA: I also felt like the black card base needed some dazzle, so I swiped over the whole thing with Clear Wink of Stella before I adhered all the other bits of the card onto it. Shimmer is difficult to photograph adequately (at least I have a hard time with it), so you'll just have to trust me when I tell you how *glamorous* it looks in person ;-)

Don't blame me if you've fallen in love with this kit. Blame Sara ;-) You can grab the A Sara Thing Refill Kit on the PAST KITS page in my Online Store (as long as supplies last). This includes the consumables only, which is everything but the stamp set & ink...but you DO get the free watercolor pencils and paintbrush! By the way, you're gonna have to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to buy whatever's available, so go ahead and sign up HERE to get your email address in the system first! I'm sure they will sell out fast, so you'll want to be ready to check out ASAP.

BLOG HOP GIVEAWAY: To be entered into a drawing for a FREE "A Sara Thing" Paper Pumpkin Kit, you must leave a comment on EVERY blog. Drawing closes on Saturday, April 29th at 9 PM EST. The winner will be announced on Monday, May 1, 2017.

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop: My Favorite Bundle

Welcome again to the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, that runs the first Friday of every month! You'll see projects from Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world in this blog hop. My name is Kimberley Morris, and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA).

This month our theme is My Favorite Bundle. With Easter fast approaching, I've been playing with the Basket Bunch Bundle from the 2017 Occasions Catalog. I made a Valentine card with it HERE, and a cute little gift bag with it HERE. Today I have a quick favor basket to show you:

Check out my Basket Tutorial HERE...but FIRST, check out the tips below...

You can get the Basket Bunch BUNDLE, and SAVE 10%. Or you can get the Basket Bunch photopolymer stamp set, and the Basket Builder Framelits Dies separately. The basket on the left just uses the stamp set, and the one on the right uses both the stamp set and the framelits. There's still time to get this bundle and make these favors, they are super fast and easy--so SHOP NOW and expedite shipping on your order!

BASKET TUTORIAL TIPS:
1) My first tip might save you a headache...when cutting your 8-1/2x11 sheet, I suggest you cut the (4) handles off the end FIRST. It's easier than trying to hold/measure/cut a skinny strip in your paper trimmer.
2) I did not wrap this basket with DSP or use scalloped circles, or brads on it, so you can skip those steps from the tutorial.
3) For these baskets in particular, you can see from the side angled view of my baskets, I stamped the basket all the way around. When you do this, you might find it easiest to fold the pointy pieces of the basket underneath the square pieces, and also fold under any square pieces that might get ink stamped over them. Or, you could lay down sticky notes around the edges if that's easier.
4) Take note of the picture below when you cut into the squares to make the basket, as you will get the best look by choosing a square with no pointy sections attached to it for the front (see the panel where I've colored the basket in the picture below).
5) I stamped the grass image a few times to get it across the bottom of the basket panel, and I also stamped it a couple times with the ink stamped off the image once, to get some lighter grass blades in between.
6) I used the Chocolate Chip marker to make a couple of lines on the handle, just for added interest. If you don't have this marker, consider using a Blender Pen with ink from the Chocolate Chip ink pad. The line will look a little bit different but it will be there.
7) The handle on this basket is NOT glued on the sides with triangle pieces (as the tutorial directs), it is glued on the square panel sides of the box instead.
8) There are also some adorable sayings in the stamp set, and you could stamp one on a tag and use Baker's Twine to hang it from the handle for a fancier basket :-)

To color the little bunny you see in the close up below, I used the Watercolor Pencils and smoothed over the color with Blender Pens. You'll want to make sure you use a waterproof ink for the bunny if you are going to color him--I chose Basic Gray Archival ink. If you don't have the Watercolor Pencils, you can use the ink from an ink pad and your Blender Pens. The colors I used are: Basic Gray PENCIL/Smoky Slate ink, Melon Mambo PENCIL (super light)/Pink Pirouette ink, and Bermuda Bay (either pencil or ink). I also used the Early Espresso PENCIL on the basket in a criss cross pattern to give it texture like it's woven. If you use ink and a Blender Pen, you might want to stick with Chocolate Chip so it's not too dark.

Stampin' Supplies: Basket Bunch BUNDLE (Basket Bunch stamp set + Basket Builder Framelits), Tip Top Taupe card stock, Whisper White card stock (for bunny), Chocolate Chip ink pad and marker, Cucumber Crush ink pad, Basic Gray Archival ink pad (for bunny), Watercolor Pencils (for basket on right), Blender Pens (for bunny), Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals (for bunny), Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Stampin' Trimmer.

FYI: the Watercolor Pencils are SUPER popular and are not orderable right now, but are estimated to be available again by April 24th. Once they are in stock, hop on over to my Online Store and get them while you can!!! Don't forget to grab at least one pack of Blender Pens with them.
