Holly Jolly Christmas Tags - PDF Download

Today's Giveaway is for everyone! I just wanted to take a few minutes to share something with you all, since I won't have the time to finish all 12 of my stamp set giveaways.

My daughter made some pizzelles, and drizzled them with chocolate, as holiday gifts for her friends and teachers. At 5:00 this morning she packaged them in cello bags, bundled three together, and tied them with ribbon and tags. It's been crazy around here, and I really wanted to stamp some tags for her, but it was late last night when I realized she'd be taking them to school in the morning! I was really tired, and I don't stamp well at all when I'm that tired, and I didn't want the pressure of having to race the clock and the school bus in the morning. So, I ran downstairs and printed out a sheet of tags I created in about 5 minutes with My Digital Studio for her, and left them out on the counter for her to use this morning. I'm happy to report, she thought they were adorable :-)

Click HERE to download PDF sheet of Cookie Tags.

I thought I'd share these tags with you, in case you are also looking for some festive tags in a crunch. The only cutting directions I can give you is that I centered the tags on the sheet, so you can start by cutting your paper or card stock down the middle lengthwise. Each tag is about 2" wide, and about 3-1/4" tall, though that's not exact. I was sleepy and in a hurry, so I cranked these out super fast! (Be sure to set the Page Scaling to None when you print these out, so you don't change the size.) After printing, I cut them all out, then punched a hole in the entire stack of 12 tags at the top center with the Crop-A-Dile for ribbon to go through, then punched off the top corners with the Tag Corner Punch.

I'm so very grateful to have My Digital Studio, to do the crafting for me when I don't have the time to do it all by hand! I don't even own the actual physical stamp set (A Holly, Jolly Christmas) that I used to make the tags, so having that art available to me was an extra bonus.

NOTE: My Digital Studio is for personal use only, and all images are copyrighted. These tags are for personal use only, not commercial use--so please don't use them on, or in conjunction with, a product you are selling.

Pause for Family Emergency

Our Day EIGHT Winner was: Stephanie Alton

Unfortunately, we're having a family emergency right now and I'm unable to continue with my Giveaways. I'm so sorry, I really wanted to keep going, but I've tried and I just can't keep up with it, and that's not fair to you. So, I will be working today to get the remaining packages for previous winners sent out, so you can be sure to get them before Christmas--they are going Priority Mail.

I would appreciate any prayers and good thoughts you're interested in sending our way, for luck, justice and protection. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, and please hang in there with me for the next few weeks while I attend to my family's urgent needs.

Today's Giveaway includes some Star Bright paper ornaments (die cut and scored patterned paper + elastic cord), some On Board Trinkets ornaments (die cut chipboard + die cut patterned paper), the Miracle of Christmas stamp set, and the Stampin' Around So Swirly jumbo wheel. The stamp set is from 1998, and the wheel is very recently retired, but I think the bold lines of the wheel match the stamp set images perfectly! And the wheel is not seasonal, so you can use it throughout the year.

The photo below shows the rubber on the back of the stamps.

To use the Stampin' Around wheel, you'll need a Jumbo Stampin' Around Handle (103661, $5.95). To adhere the patterned paper to the chipboard ornaments, the Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive (110775, $3.95) works wonderfully, or you may prefer the Anywhere Glue Stick (104045, $3.95 for pkg of 2), or the 2-Way Glue Pen (100425, $3.50).

Day SIX of Twelve Days of Blog Candy

Our Day FIVE Winner is: Beth Cornwall

Today is DAY SIX of my Twelve Days of Blog Candy Giveaways. Leave a comment with your first and last name, and email address, to enter. Make sure you check out the Rules in THIS POST before leaving your comment, to ensure your entry qualifies.

Today's Giveaway includes some 6"x6" swatches of Ski Slope Designer Series Paper, the Flaky Friends stamp set, and a spool of Rope Twine.

[REMEMBER: click on any photo to see it full-size.]

The photo below shows the rubber on the back of the stamps. I LOVE snowmen, and this is one of my favorite snowman sets of all time--yes, I did use it a lot. I'm just very particular about keeping my stamp sets clean. (NOTE: I'm getting tons of comments asking how I keep the wood clean...my secret is a quick coating of Loreal Clear Nail Polish on the bottom and a little ways up the two grooved sides, after I mount the stamps. It will keep most inks from staining. I also do and teach a twist-twist-tap-tap-tap method of inking, so the image surface stays flush with the ink pad, and I never rock the wood edges so they don't get in the ink pad. I have perfected this method so that I don't even have to seal the wood on the stamp set to keep it clean, but I tend to seal the wood on many of the stamps as a precautionary measure.)

To use the Stampin' Around wheel, you'll need a Stampin' Around Handle (102971, $3.95). The little rectangle gift tag image fits perfectly across the bottom of the Tag Punch (105934, $15.95), leaving room at the top to punch a hole with the 1/16" Circle Punch (101227, $8.95) and put string or twine through. The Ski Slope paper coordinates with the following colors: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Real Red, and Baja Breeze. The first three of those colors are currently available in card stock, ink, and various ribbon and embellishment product. (Baja Breeze is a retired In Color)

You can order any of the above supplies through my ONLINE STORE anytime!

Be sure you enter this giveaway in accordance with the RULES, or your entry will be discarded. You must enter by 6am MST on 12/13/2009, to be in the drawing for the Day Six Giveaway! Day Seven's Giveaway should be posted, along with Day Six's winner, by 8am MST on 12/13/2009.

UPDATE: This post is closed, look for the winner in the December 13th post--which has been delayed until 10am MST.

Today's Giveaway will help you top off your gifts with a little handmade highlight. It includes two holiday gift tag stamp sets: Christmas Gift Tags, and Tag Line! I am also including two coordinating wheels: Bold Christmas Trees and Mittens. (The artwork and style of the Mittens wheel matches the stockings on one tag image.)

Tic Tac® Box (Regular Size 5/8 oz pkg)

This container is for the regular size Tic Tac packages, the ones that are 5/8 oz. size. This box makes a cute little purse pack, just put a little velcro tab under the front flap to keep it closed. The Tic Tac package is not adhered to the box, so you can use the box over and over by putting a new package of mints in the box. These make great stocking stuffers, party favors, or treats for co-workers.

Stampin' Supplies: Christmas Punch (Hostess exclusive) stamp set, Stampin' Around Sweet Swirls wheel, Ballet Blue ink (stamp image), Brocade Blue ink (wheel image), Ballet Blue card stock, Whisper White card stock, Scallop Square Punch, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Sticky Strip.

Santa's Stuck in the Chimney Box

Sometimes I get an idea and I just have to stop everything and run with it. This morning, the thought of using the Bigz XL Fancy Favor die as a chimney came roaring between my ears, and out my hands as the project you see above. Just look at that huge bag of Hershey Kisses he tried to drag down there with him (I hope he was going to my house). No wonder he got stuck!

There are several steps to creating this project, but none of them are difficult. You should be able to follow along with the pictures below to recreate this box yourself. You could create your own box and pattern for the Santa legs, but I LOVE using the Big Shot die cutting machine and our Stampin' Up! punches because they make this project so fast and easy. If you've never seen or used the Big Shot, check out THIS VIDEO for a quick demonstration and a few projects.

The first thing I did was to cut a box out using the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die. I cut the box from Real Red Textured Card Stock, because this box is supposed to look like bricks. Then I took my Stampin' Around Wheel Guide, and my White Gel Pen, and started laying the bricks on the chimney, as you can see in the pictures below. Because the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide is clear acrylic, you can see right through it to align your new marks with the previous ones. There are also etched lines on the acrylic you can use for alignment to get your spacing even. I made my bricks two lines tall, and 4 lines wide.

You can see on the picture above that I messed up on some of the lines on the right hand side. I really don't care because it adds a little character, but some of the errors were just too ugly to leave untouched. No problem, you can take a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker and color over the bits of the White Gel Pen marks you'd like to cover. Just be sure the White Gel Pen marks are dry first! Because of later steps, your corrections will blend in nicely.

You want to offset your bricks in each row, so when you lay your vertical lines, be sure to skip a row between each mark, like you can see I did in the picture above. Then go back and lay the marks in the opposite rows, between the marks of the existing bricks. Look at the picture below for a visual on the finished markings.

Next, you will use the Jumbo Texture Wheel, inked up with a Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad, and just ink and roll, then RAN (repeat as necessary) to get the look you want. I love this part, because there's just no screwing it up! I like to go over the surface horizontally, then go over it vertically, a number of times. You can see that the corrections I made over those stray White Gel Pen marks are barely noticeable at this point.

Then you'll want to run 2 small pieces of Real Red Card Stock through the Big Shot with the Leaves #2 Die, to get two of the long thin leaves. These will be Santa's legs. I used regular card stock to have a little contrast between the chimney color and the legs, but you could use Textured Card Stock again if you'd like. The Oval Punch makes the shoes from Basic Black Card Stock, the Boho Blossoms Punch creates fluff at the tops of the shoes from Whisper White Card Stock, and Whisper White is also used with the Oval Scallop Punch to create the fluff you'd see at the bottom of Santa's jacket.

Because this is a 3D project, you may want to punch doubles of the shoes and the fluff pieces, to apply to both sides. That way, you won't see where everything is glued together, when viewing the project from the back. The heel for Santa's boots is made with the Ornament Punch and Basic Black Card Stock. Just punch the top of the Ornament Punch from the edge of a sheet of card stock as shown below, trim as necessary, and adhere to the bottom of the boot. (I like to sandwich mine between the two ovals that make the boots, so you can't see where it's glued.)

Then all you need to do is attach the finished Santa legs to the inside of the box at the top front. I highly recommend Sticky Strip adhesive for this step. Then cut a 1" x 3-1/2" strip of Basic Gray Card Stock to adhere across the front center of the chimney. Fill a Large Cello Bag with seasonal treats, and tie closed with Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon. Give the treat box as is, or use the Two Tagz Die to create a cute folding tag with a greeting that you can tie onto the box. If you're just a little bit twisted like me, you might find it amusing to cut some letters out of Whisper White Card Stock using the Billboard Decorative Strip Die and slap "OH OH OH" on the outside of the chimney! The only thing holding me back from that is that fact that I don't own that die yet.

Gobble, Gobble Ghirardelli Treat Holders

Check out the original tutorial for this treat holder HERE.

This pattern is an oldie, but a goodie! As always, feel free to click on the images in this post to see full-size pictures. You can make your treat holders simple (see pic below), or add the 'give thanks' saying to each treat holder on a tag (as shown above). I wanted to make these for you a good while back, but life got in the way. Among a million other things, we even had a trip to the E.R. yesterday--but everyone's okay, thankfully. The kids have a full week's break from school next week for Thanksgiving, so they can recover and rejuvenate! And I can SLEEP IN!!!

Aren't these treat holders cute? I've never seen such adorable turkeys. Don't you want to put these on your Thanksgiving table??? The cool thing is that you can take out the treat and eat it, and you don't have to rip the holder to do it. So, you could replace the chocolates and use the treat holders at your Thanksgiving table in future years if you really wanted to.

Or, you could be a total turkey and eat the chocolate, then carefully tuck the wrapper back in the holder and prank someone else into thinking they're getting a treat...lol! Yeah, you're right, that's mean. But you will probably be around family next week and if you do it to your older brother who's always been a turd to you, aren't you just facilitating karma?

Anyway, due to experiencing life these last few weeks, I really didn't give you enough time to order supplies to make these, but I wanted to make sure you saw them before next week. To recreate these you'd need the following Stampin' Supplies:

October 2009 Tour de Freaks Blog Tour

Welcome to my blog entry on the October 2009 Tour de Freaks Blog Tour! This month's theme is Christmas Cards, and you should have just arrived from the blog of the talented Shona Watson.

I think my personal theme for this month is "non-traditional" holiday colors. I'm really enjoying using natural colors like Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, and Kraft.

[Remember: Click on any image to see it full-size!]

My first card is full of snowflakes, but there's nothing specifically Christmas-y about it, so you can send it even if you don't celebrate that holiday. It features the Serene Snowflakes stamp set and the Four the Holidays stamp set. To make the ribbon, I layered Very Vanilla Tafetta Ribbon over the solid side of the Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon. This is not a complicated card, but because of all the brads used on it, I probably would only make these for my very special card recipients!

This next card is made with the O Christmas Tree Popup Bigz XL Die, which you use with the Big Shot. It's really hard to get a picture to do it justice, but these cards are just spectacular to open up in person. Because of the numerous times through the Big Shot to get all the pieces you need, and to emboss the tree pieces, and cut out all the ornament pieces you need, I don't recommend making these in large multiples.

The next card was made with the Patterned Pines Hostess stamp set (available in the Holiday Mini Catalog) and the colors are Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry, with a Pale Plum layer. These colors coordinate with the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper layer. There's a little bit of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint around the edges of the Pale Plum layer, giving it a glittery look.

This last card is one that was created by a fellow demonstrator for a Susan G. Komen fundraising event I participated in earlier this month. I stamped some of it at the event, because I don't own this Yuletide Christmas stamp set--then I brought the pieces home and tried to remember what the card looked like! I added "snow" to the top of my card, using the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set. This is a great card to make in multiples, because the stamping is easy and it goes together really fast.

Your next stop on the blog tour this month is Jan Tink's blog. Enjoy your Halloween, but don't forget to take notes along the blog tour so you can get a head start on your holiday cards. Before you know it, December will be here, and if you don't plan ahead, you'll find yourself too busy to enjoy the rewards of handmade holidays this year!
